    Eh . . . don't have my book with me so I'll see what I remember.

    Neolithic farmers lived in rectangular huts which were made from wattle and daub, and straw. Walls were made out of wattle and daub and the roof thatched out of straw. Wattle and daub was saplings or branches woven together to make a frame, before being covered with mud and clay to keep out draughts.

    Is anyone going to answer the question or will I answer my own? :p

    Bones are humorous (sp) and femur. We haven't covered muscles and joints yet!

    Seriously?! We've been finished since October!

    By the way: D is a ligament and C is synovial fluid.

    What's your question?

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,321 ✭✭✭Jackobyte

    Retarded teacher who doesn't know/cannot expand on anything the book says

    What is latent heat?

  • Advertisement
  • Registered Users Posts: 2,419 ✭✭✭WanderingSoul

    Latent heat is heat used in the changing of state in a substance. In a graph, it can be seen in the form of a plateau.

    Have you done this yet?
    Next Question; Name the parts of the eye;
    Eye_Diagram_without_text.gif

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,321 ✭✭✭Jackobyte

    A=Vitreous Humour
    B=Lens
    C=cornea
    D=pupil
    E=iris
    F=Sclera or Choroid layer (I can't tell from diagram but had to check book anyway)
    G=retina

    What is the function of the ciliary muscle in the eye?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,419 ✭✭✭WanderingSoul

    Well done! That was a hard one.

    To hold and bend the lens to correctly focus light onto the retina.

    Next Question; What is / Define

    1) Acceleration
    2) Acid
    3) Asexual Reproduction

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,321 ✭✭✭Jackobyte

    Acceleration=the change in velocity of a moving object
    Acid=I actually don't know the definition! Would "a substance with a ph level or 1-7" count.
    Asexual reproduction=the reproduction of an organism which only requires a single parent. It usually involves the use of "runner plants" to produce a new identical individual.

    Can you correct my above questions, I know they aren't fully right.

    What is the difference between xylem and phloem tissue in a plant?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,419 ✭✭✭WanderingSoul

    Yep, it would. I don't think it has a particular definition which is why I said "What is".

    I'll check the answers against my notes in a moment, okay?

    Xylem tissue transports water around the plant.
    Phloem tissue transports foods around the plant.

    Bold = How i remember the difference.

    Sorry.

    Next Question; What is / Explain / Define;

    1) Centre of Gravity
    2) Alloy
    3) Antagonistic Muscles

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,321 ✭✭✭Jackobyte

    1. The point in through which an object appears to move
    2. This is a mixture of two metals, e.g. tin.
    3. Don't have a clue

    Damn, my answers seem so inadequate! :eek:

    5 steps of water treatment?

    The acceleration definition is correct, although I said in my notes it is the rate of change in an objects speed or velocity.

    Yes, I would say for the acid definition you would be right in saying a substance with a pH of less than 7.

    Your definition of asexual reproduction is essentially correct; maybe mention that no gametes are required and fertilisation does not occur.

    Sorry.

    3) Antagonistic Muscles
    They are when a pair of muscles pull in opposite directions such as biceps and triceps!! I think anyways!

    Your answers are fine!
    1. screening,
    2. settling,
    3. filtration,
    4. chlorination,
    5. floridation

    Next Question; What is / Explain / Define

    1) Conduction
    2) Atomic Number
    3) Digestion
    Conduction is the transfer of heat through a solid material
    An atomic number is the number of protons:confused: an atom has in its nucleus
    Digestion is when food is broken down so it can be absorbed into the body ( not sure)

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,419 ✭✭✭WanderingSoul

    And your question? :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,962 ✭✭✭jumpguy

    And your question? :)
    I can answer this!

    Give the French/German of the following words:

    and
    the car
    the house
    the door
    television
    window
    oranges
    yogurt
    grapes
    bed

    Conduction; maybe add in about particles (it passes from particle to particle)? You're right though!

    Atomic Number; yep, you're right!

    Digestion; The breakdown of large insoluble food molecules into smaller soluble molecule through either chemical (enzymes) or physical (teeth) means.

    I'll ask a q if it's ok. My science teacher gave us past pre papers for homework and one that came up multiple time is:

    Why is helium used in airships instead of hydrogen?

    Convection-The transfer of heat by moving air particles.
    A Base-substance with ph above 7
    Enzyme-a biochemical catalyst

    My question;Why is helium used in airships instead of hydrogen?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,419 ✭✭✭WanderingSoul

    "Why is helium used in airships instead of hydrogen?"

    It is less dense?

    Chemical Reaction
    Fertilisation

    Hydrogen is less dense than helium, not the other way around. It's just not used anymore in airships as it can easily combust.
