    Pluralism and Absenteeism
Pluralism was where a clergyman had a position in two churches at once.
Absenteeism was where one would be away from the parish for long stretches of time.

Explain the term "desertification", and give one example of a place where it has occurred.

The Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria are Columbus. :p Magellan used the Trinidad, The San Diego, the Victoria, the San Antonio and the Concepcion. I remember irrelevant things, Columbus is the one I'm studying in detail too...

Nepotism - Appointing relatives to church positions e.g. pope appointing a nephew as cardinal

Pluralism - holding more than one church position.

What is the function of the retina?

The retina contains light sensitive cells which collect light (which enters through the pupil and is focused on the retina by the lens, which shape can be changed by ciliary muscles) to create an image which then travels down the optic nerve. (thats really hard to define..but you get my drift XD)

This just because I want to know the answer:

In relation to an irrigation scheme you have studied, describe two advantages and two disadvantages of the scheme.

The Aswan Dam Scheme in Egypt.

    1) Provides perennial irrigation all year around.
    2) Provides water supply for Egypt's growing population and economy.
    3) Lake Nasser is a popular tourist attraction.

    1) 20% of water is lost each year through evaporation.
    2) Silt builds up in dam - expensive dredging.
    3) People forced to move.

    That should do it.

State two of Martin Luther's beliefs.

    1) Justification by faith alone
    2)Clergy could marry

    Hmmm..
1)Name an area you have studied that suffers from a low population density and outline 3 results of the low population density.
2)What is a primate city? (someone in my class thought it was a city where monkeys live -__-)

Thank you :) my book makes no reference to disadvantages. Out of curiosity, would those disadvantages be applicable to any scheme? My teacher did Aswan Dam and the Languedoc scheme with us,but the Languedoc is in my book and is so much easier to remember, but nothing is said about disadvantages.

    1) The West of Ireland
    1) It is hard to provide essential services for the low, dispersed population.
    2) Schools are forced to close or amalgamate
    3) Outward migration to urban areas, as young people are attracted by the social and economic opportunities of urban areas.

    2) A primate city is a city with more than twice the population of the next biggest city in the same country. e.g. Dublin, Paris

I don't know to be honest. Our teacher just gave is them notes on the Aswan Dam... we've never even discussed that other one. I would just learn the Aswan Dam one just in-case. You don't really need to know it in detail, as they generally just ask for advantages and disadvantages - you don't actually have to go into any great detail.

I'd say some of them would be applicable but the one about evaporation may not be because the weather is different. The silt one may also be different because of position also.
