Hi,

When setting up a forum site, such as this one here! Is there any legal work that has to be done?

probably just the obvious stuff: don't let people post links to warez and porn, don't let people make libelous comments, don't use any software to set it up that you don't have a licence for.

yeah.. i get ya.

but do you have to draw up like a contract saying, that your not liable for anything ppl say.. etc? like a full 100% legal one! ??

I'd imagine any such legal document would be displayed somewhere on this site if you did. You probably will be responsible for what is on your own site I would think. I wouldn't worry too much about it at this stage. happy bday btw.

Do not advertise your board here though or on any other board.

That link is a step by step guide to how to set up your own one, and more or less, they take care of all the legal crap.

It's a good start for a first board.

Heh, that's a link to your registration page, would you not at least link to the main site instead of this blatant attempt to get people to sign up?

Oh and your "Legal Issue" appears to have been "Will I get in trouble if I more or less rip off boards.ie's layout scheme?".

A lot of boards are controlled by the providers you set them up with. I use a lot of Ezboards. www.ezboard.com If you are thinking of setting up a discussion board, Ezboard is certainly worth a look. I have not done it myself, but they would appear to be easy to set up, as I know people who have. There are a huge amount of them, covering just about any topic of interest. Some are specialised and some are just general boards. Once you register to post you can use any one of them, with the exception of private ones that you need to be invited to or apply to in order to post on them. From the main site you can do a search of subject areas and it will list all the appropriate boards and you can go and look at them.

Also, the Webmaster/Flash forum probably would have been perfect for this; might have even been some links in stickies for you.

Not personally, but there are enough mods of After Hours that it's covered almost constantly; it won't be long before one of them gets around to this thread
