Win 2k CD/DVD Drive Problems

Both the LiteON CDRW and Samsung DVD Rom drives in my PC refuse to recognise any data CD / DVD discs. OS Win 2k. Were working fine on old PC under Win 98. moved them to new PC with Win 2k, and they worked for a while then stopped. I can watch DVD movies, and play Audio CD's. Using Windows bundled CD Player it reads Data CD…

Using Windows bundled CD Player it reads Data CD in Drive when I insert a Data CD, yet if I go to My Computer and select the drive I get the error message Please Insert Disk into Drive. I installed AVG Free version 7, and Mozilla Firefox browser recently but drives were working after this.

Any suggestions please?

Un-installed AVG and everything works fine.
