My Dad has had a '90 Ford Orion saloon, '97 Ford Mondeo hatch & '00 Ford Mondeo saloon (old shape). All great cars & real reliable, cheap to run etc.
But all have one recurring problem, their back boots leak. The '90 Orion & '97 Mondeo had sunroofs so we always thought that mighta been the problem but the '00 Mondeo doesn't have a sunroof and it's boot still leaks.

Anyone else had similar experiences/possible solutions?

Dry the boot as much as you can, crawl into the boot with a torch, get someone to throw big buckets of water over the back of the car and check for drips inside :D This may help you to find the source of the leak.

Thanks for the advice but tried that already but it only seems to happen after prolonged periods of rain

Fletch my sister had a 1989 Fiesta which leaked and I drove a 1980 Escort and it leaked into the boot as well. It did'nt matter how tight the hatchback "shut" was they somehow managed to let it in and quite a lot in my sisters case. I popped out the drain hole bung one day and said leave it out.

I had a 01 Fiesta and the boot leaked on that aswell, redone the seals and checked the light clusters but couldn't find where it was leaking anyway, Have an 03 Focus now and have had no trouble with it though.

I have a 01 Fiesta that had the same problem.

Took the garage ages to sort it out, in and out 4 different times for the same problem, resealing lights etc, eventually they replaced the rear window seal.

After the window seals were replaced I've had no more leaks and thats 2 years ago..
