Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

As much as I hate to say it, Villa will lose to Sheffield Utd. I'd almost put all my personal belongings on it!

Yeading to only lose 2-0 to Newacaste, and Man Utd 3 - 1 Exeter. (Another Carroll blunder! I'd fancy any team to score with him in goals!)

I am going to go with Sheff Utd to beat Villa.
    Sunderland to beat Crystal Palace

Burnley will beat Liverpool because they'll field a weakened side (Liverpool that is)

No weakened teams allowed in the FA Cup

    FA Cup rule 18 (a)
    18. PROVISIONS CONCERNING PLAYERS

    (a) Each team participating in a match shall represent the full available strength of each competing Club.

A weakened Liverpool team will still beat Burnley.....we have good young players.Only a few weeks ago a weakened Liverpool team beat Spurs.

Burnley v Liverpool - Pool may make hard work of this, but should win.

Cardiff v Blackburn - Very tough game for Blackburn, remember Leeds?

Ipswich v Bolton - Chance for Ipswich here, Big Sam might rest a few.

Northampton v Southampton - Real chance of an upset, Saints are awful at the moment.

Sheff Utd v Aston Villa - Another possible upset

Sunderland v Crystal Palace - Will Dowie risk a full strength team? Possible upset.

Watford v Fulham - Tough one again.

West Ham v Norwich - My tip for upset, though in truth they're both Championship material.

Admitedly they have a long injury list right now but they will not field a team similar to those that play for big clubs in the League Cup.

To the best of my knowledge no team has ever fielded a second string team in the FA Cup, thus obeying the rules.

Man You did when they played in the World Club Championship....in fact they did not want to enter a team at all that year.

how many times have you watched us play in the Prem?? Over xmas we lost 9 first team players and had kids on the bench and they gave a good account of theirselves

It won't really be an upset as West Ham are favourites.

Good account or not, you've 16 points from 22 games and will be playing Championship football next season.

I've seen you're games against Newcastle and Spurs (WHL) and the highlights from the Carrow Rd game against Spurs. Other than that its been goals and snippets of highlights. I'm not anti-Norwich believe me, I'm just facing the facts.

As eirebhoy has stated, West Ham are favourites for the match, that suggest anything to you?

not really, I'm confident of us staying up this season. I've been to all games apart from when I was on holidays both home and away. We dont have too much to fear, we're a good footballing side and never change our style no matter who or where we're playing. Bookies odds are a load of crap IMO

Fair play to ya. I agree about the footballing side bit by the way, just don't see the same conclusion to the season that you do. Best of luck anyway.

Anybody know when the replays will be played...?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,966 ✭✭✭Jivin Turkey

Can see most ties going to form, the likely upsets being Sheff Utd and Sunderland Id say.

Liverpool have a tough tie tomorrow, but should come through. Im in London on Saturday so Im heading to Stamford Bridge to see Scunthorpe try and pull the most unlikely of upsets out of the bag. :D

you'd wanna get out more mate, Bolton field a weakened team every season in the FA Cup, they arent interested in it, theres no money in it, they only want to avoid relegation.

Also, as predicted by moi, Liverpool ARE fielding a weakened side

I hope United give them a good thrashing. :D

This game could get some of the players form back on track, hopefully. United definately need a good win after the Spurs match.

Fair enough then, as long as it does not go like the League Cup.

I'll have to go for a few pints tonight

Its going that way for the (so-called) top teams. Premiership and Champions League is where the money is and ever since the Bosman rule came in, football has gotten poorer and poorer. I mean Mickey Owen for 8 million !!!!! not all paid yet may I add.

Sheffield united have just put a third past villa, so it looks like most people here were right about sheffield united scalping villa....

great game, in the second half anyway...

Villa can be a little agrieved at the loss (dodgy handball ignored, off side goal) but they were crap.

I didn't see Sunderland winning as a shock. I expected them to win.

Well done Exeter, 600k in pocket, more to come. Had their chances too. We should take them in the replay, just another match that we did not create much.

At the end of the day Sunderland are one Div lower than Palace.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,916 ✭✭✭Brian017

True, but they're roughly of the same strength prehaps with Sunderland just ahead. Palace were lucky to get promoted. I think Sunderland's wonderful FA Cup run last year ultimately cost them promotion

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,483 ✭✭✭Töpher

Will see about Yeading tomorrow, no total destruction from any premiership team yet.
Man Utd, well, I'm happier with that than what I predicted.

But, the one that matters, wish I'd put my money of Sheff UTd. Well played to them, VIlla deserved nothing, again, sigh.

Yeah, Sunderland were also favourites yesterday so that wasn't an upset.

I think the draw between United and Exeter could be a blessing in disguise for United. Hopefully Fergie will now get rid of some of the twats United have in their reserves now...
