Oh, and Hendix's All Along the Watchtower beats all covers of anything ever made.

    A-f*cking-men

    Also:
Hendrix: "Johnny B Goode" (live), Star Spangled Banner (live @ Woodstock)
    U2: "Everlasting love" (acoustic)
Apocalyptica: Unforgive, Refuse Resist, Hall of the Mountain Kings (Movement IV, Peer Gynt Suite by Greig)]
Marilyn Manson: Tainted Love, Personal Jesus

Oh, and Thin Lizzy: Whiskey in the Jar (ohhhh the irony ....)

Before I get jumped on I am wearing a thin lizzy hoodie: I also quite liked the cover of Whiskey in the Jar by Metallica.

I actually quite liked Limp Bizkit's Version of Behind Blue Eye's. And thats saying something because I think that Fred Durst should do hard time in a Sodomising Camp.

Death's version of Painkiller was pretty alright but the original was better

Got to disagree , i taught Deaths version was much better. More power and energy in it.

As for bad , anyone that has tried to cover Aces High ( Iron Maiden ) , just can't beat the original

Vaders version of raining blood was enjoyable

Good covers: Most of Marilyn Manson's covers have been spot on, I Put A Spell On You is just wow! The Swans' cover of Black Eyed Dog (Nick Drake) is superior to the original which is saying a lot. NIN's cover of Metal (Gary Numan) is class as well. Oh and Nick Cave's Disco 2000 (Pulp)!

Bad covers: Rolf Harris Stairway to Heaven, it's bad but I like it :D. I can't remember if it was Soullfy or Sepultura but one of them did a woeful cover of Smoke On The Water. Laibach's cover of the Final Countdown blew donkey balls too.

Ronan Keating, fairytale of new york. "you scumbag, you maggot, you're cheap and you're haggard" Everyone involved with that version should be tortured to death.

Stevie Ray Vaughans Little Wing (Original Jimi Hendrix) sits very comfortably on the top of the pile for me.

    Now that's what's called a proper cover!

Megadeth - Anarchy in the UK - Kicks the **** out of the Sex Pistols version...

Also, Megadeth - Paranoid and Arch Enemy - Aces High - both great!

Good: Faith No More - War Pigs

Bad: Marilyn Manson - Tainted Love (Did he do that for "Not Another Teen Movie?" .... I say for the movie, I mean for the money)

Hendrix and Cash with All Along the Watchtower and Hurt, respectively, kick ass. There are too many bad covers to list but some would be Keating, Fairytale in New York; Limp Bizkit, Behind Blue Eyes. I quite like the Metallica version of Whiskey in the Jar. Nothing compared to the original of course but not bad.

Iced Earth - Burnin For You very good cover indeed.

    APC - Imagine
Foo Fighters - Baker Street(??); Down in the Park (Gary Newman)

    Bad:

Come on lads, it's OBVIOUSLY that Joe Dolan album, where he slaughtered everyone from Radiohead to Blur. Ugh, the dirty bugger, it makes me puke.

    I think I'm in love.

I believe Johnny B. Goode was with B.B. King aswell. Also, Hendrix and Jim Morrison cover 'The Sunshine Of Your Love' in the Red House live album... I wept with pleasure when I first heard it. I also agree on Jeff Buckley's Halelujiah.

    The Good
    Albert Niland - Wuthering Heights
I heard it on Tom Dunnes radio show one night and eventually tracked down the CD. Great.

    The Bad
I heard the Barbershop band 'G4' on the TV programme X Factor singing Radioheads Creep one night. G4 were laughable but their version of Creep was actually scarily bad.
