There's a cockerell in my garden, I don't know how it got there as the walls are pretty high.

I've heard it a few times before but it certainly wasnt in my garden, my dog is going crazy and I know that someone nearby must be keeping chickens or something, we live in an estate so I'm just a bit confused and don't know what to do with the damn thing.

ew no, then I'd have to pluck it!

and besides, it's someone's pet. How would you feel if we all ate your pet?

    Rozabeez,

Are there any people in the neighbourhood that you know of that keep animals? Perhaps you can ask them if they know of anyone that has lost it. Otherwise i'd ask your local vet for advice aswell or if he knows of someone that might keep birds like that, he/she might even be able to take him in.

my neighbourhood is full of weirdos, any of them could be keeping chickens, but how did the damn thing get over the wall? can they fly?

The evidence would suggest that they can indeed fly.

could have been blown over, maybe it was windy last night, or maybe some horrible person threw it over!

I doubt it! If a cockeral can be blown around, a cat can, and my cats were all safely on all four paws!
Maybe someone did throw it, but it's unlikely. It most likely flew.

but if chickens cant fly, then surely cockerells cant either.

Chickens can fly! Only for a short distance, (hence they don't do it much)
    but they can indeed fly.

Since your a fellow boards member we'll give you the benefit of the doubt and believe there indeed was an invading cockrell in the garden....

Next time though there better be digital imagery of the cockrell holding up todays news paper with the headlines clearly visible.
