Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Barcelona rocks. Great city.
    I haven't been to Venice.

Venice is a really cool city, but it is overrun by tourists and the Venetians are a bit like Kerrymen when it comes to tourists (ie fleece them). I found it to be no more expensive than here. The tourists die off around Sept, but that is also when the weather in Venice changes from summer to winter, and the risk of aqua alte (flooding) greatly increases.

We rented an apartment when in Venice (4 of us) for something like E250 each for the week. It was nice, clean and in a quiet part of the city, away from the main tourist parts.

    Barcelona def

great nightlife, great food and great shops. Very easy to get into city from airport - train link about 30 mins.

We stayed at Hotel H10 Raco del Pi just off the Ramblas

about 18 months ago, very good for city hotel, modern and good breakfasts.

Las Ramblas - usual things apply don't look to much like a tourist and don't stop to look at any of the guy doing card tricks etc, but otherwise a very safe city for wandering around.

    gotta love that tapas!

Been to Venice on a day trip and Barcelona for a week.

Has to be Barca. Stayed at H10 Gravina, best breakfast. Just off Place Catalunya, round the corner to Ramblas. Didn't get to see all we wanted in the week. Went in June, very very hot, better down in the port or out of the centre.

    Barcelona

Interrailed to Venice in '90 - wonderful and different. Go between July and October - you need to walk around. Good festival on in autumn - think October.

However Barcelona ahead of Venice. Best city in Europe IMHO (Berlin 2nd) - Las Ramblas, tapas, Gaudi, Camp Nou, the weather, Montserrat, and on the list goes. Been there 3 times this year - 2 for work, and once for the crack. Simply wonderful. Did I mention nightlife yet ? Fantastic. Buenos Nochos.
