My brother has a fiat punto, the fuse for the radio and interior light blew. I've changed it twice and it just blew instantly. any ideas on where to look for a short?

    thanks

might be easier to rewire the radio from the ignition with a new fuse?

    @ lomb -

There is obviously something causing the fuse to blow. What year Punto? Google to find out what else uses this fuse and see what is causing it to short out. Does it happen if the radio or interior light is off?

point is though electrical shorts are very difficult to trace, u mite have to take the whole dash apart.

its sometimes easier to just take a fresh 12v supply from the ignition and place a fuse in it and rig to radio. u know it is possible that the radio is defective and shorting internally.

In which case the fuse in the back of the radio unit itself would blow, surely...

not unless its not a pure short. it could be drawing more current than the car fuse can handle but not be a pure short. or the car fuse could be blowing first...... cause its a lower rating than vehilce fuse.
