    Hi there.

Now, amusingly I should know the answer to this question since I was the ents officer the year we got slapped with a copywright infringment notice and went all legit but...

Where does the SCI FI get its films from? I know they are (or at least used to be) legit and were sourced from a specialist video place but I dont know where that is or how to contact them and I want to show a few films in public this year and want to do it by the book.

Replies or PM's if you know!! Thanks.

    DeV.

Sci-fi have gotten into trouble with the CSC this year and last for not getting licences for the videos they show - they've just been getting them on DVD from America and showing them.

You could mail Lucy in the CSC (lucyATcsc.tcd.ie) cos she is the source of all knowledge and knows about this stuff and will help you out, or at least point you in the right direction.

Historically (at least, during periods of SFSOC/Scifi's history), the films were obtained from GFD Communications - http://www.gfd.ie/film/

Never quite got a committee position, but I was a general officer in 96-97, when we organised the flop known as Trincon 2. Still, we did get lots of time to chat with some great SF/Fantasy authors (I remember Maggie Furey and Terry Pratchett were there...)
