Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You should start a sentence with a capital letter. Also, your punctuation and sentence structure is up your arsé and as NotMe has pointed out, the correct spelling for "korrect" is correct.

No harm in at least trying to spell and punctuate correctly. But, I'd generally not bother complaining about it.

May I ask whats wrong with defending the English language against the onslaught of stupidity that the AOL chatrooms, l33t and text have dumped on us? A typo and the odd incorrectly spelled can be forgiven, but the rest? For Christs sakes people, you went to school for a reason...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,767 ✭✭✭Hugh Hefner

You could just spell correctly instead.

There's no apostrophe in nazis. The fascists are very particular about that one.

You're hilarious, now go play outside.

Grammar/spelling nazis annoy me too, but people that make no effort whatsoever at proper words/sentences are even worse. There's only a few offenders on boards.ie though thankfully.

Please, let someone who knows what they are doing defend the English language then.
There are more grammer mistakes in your post than in the average AOL chatroom.

I agree. I hate it when people randomly leave out nouns.

some people do have learning disabilities, and get alot of stick on here... its the first website that i've joined that the members do that... i personaly think its unfair and rude, as long as you can spell and write correctly why bother giving others abuse. if you cannot understand what they are saying ask them... or go to a different thread.

Yeah, my bad... Been a bit frazzled this week, some personal stuff and 3 project hand-ups, so lots of last minutes touches...

Welcome to humanity... People will be right, people will be wrong, and people will feel the need to point it out to everyone... Sometimes they are right to, sometimes they are not. What I don't get though is why people have to jump down others throats for it? Why not take it with a pinch of salt, accept it and maybe even learn from it...

Oh, wait, I'm talking about the Irish youth here... Never mind...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,304 ✭✭✭✭koneko

A lot of people don't bother to write properly, nothing to do with learning disabilities. If someone has a genuine learning disability and says so, people won't give them any flack.

Not using sentences and paragraphs because you're lazy or think "it doesn't matter", is something different altogether.

Tsk, tsk. Youngsters and their poor punctuation!

    "sad, pathetic ****"

Also, insofarasimaware, "=" is not a letter of the English language

Most boards.ie users consider it impolite to completely disregard basic grammar. Sure, we all make a few typos here and there but there’s a big difference between a typo and a total lack of regard for grammar. One’s a mistake, the other’s just rude.

Would you find someone who spoke like Yoda to be understandable all the time? Personally I’d find it extremely irritating. When on a bulletin board system such as this, punctuation, capitalisation and spelling are the minimum standards of “speech” expected. It’s just common courtesy towards other posters to use them.

Yeah, its bad enough having to put up with Bertie Ahern

i personaly have gotten an earfull due to spelling mistakes, and even though i do try my best and my bible is a dictionary i sometimes find it hard to get the word right(very badly dyslexic) but i do try very hard... and i find it unfair for people to jump on the lazy band waggon

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,304 ✭✭✭✭koneko

I've seen dyslexics' writing (knew a few back in the day), and it'd be a lot worse than just "bad spelling".

Using paragraphs is easy, so is using this little fella: .

Penny Arcade like to call him Mr Period. He's special.
If you don't like what people have to say (on the internet), ignore it. You don't have to get offended and upset at everything.

Actually it is one of the fundamental means of intelligence assessment.
