hey, i've posted before but i won't give up.
    Our current line-up: Guitar/bass/drums.
We practice in Harold's Cross, we're all 16-17, and we'd like someone who can write good guitar parts and songs. If you can't sing, we'd still be willing to try you as a guitarist.
Influences: Radiohead, Oceansize, Tortoise, Tool, Mogwai, Slint, Sigur Rós, Jeff Buckley, Elliott Smith, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Explosions In The Sky and many more.
    Please respond!

Wow. This is like something from a film. I live in Harold's Cross and play guitar and LOVE Elliott Smith. I can't sing though. No band experience but practice makes perfect. :D

What do you have in the band already? Only drummer and bassist? For a group of 16-17 year olds, that's great taste.

Does a band that likes Slint, Mogwai, Explosions In The Sky,Tortoise
    really need a singer?

Well, that's the interesting part, innit? what would happen if you combined the two....?

that's the most impressive 16-17 y/o band ad i've seen.
spread the influences with your peers!
    worth a bump

That's the problem! us and our friends are the only people we know who like those bands , and it can be trés frustrating, what with all those emo fans responding.
i keep getting compliments on the list of influences but no-one actually responds to the ad, and if they do it's not what we're looking for. poor me. any takers?

Have you tried the Bands/Musicians forum?

You're more likely to get a response there I think.

yes, i have an ad there and on the musicmaker board. just trying to widen the chances of success

Put the ad in your sig, or a link to one of your threads in your sig (make sure it doesn't break sig rules though). Then post on other forums i.e. Rock/Metal, After Hours etc. More people will see your sig. thus more people might click on it to see your ad.

    Just a suggestion.

Also ... The current site in your sig is kinda creepy.

here's some other popular ones to post on...

Thumped.com ...most likely to find people with similar influences here

    cluas.com

    musicmaker.ie

the boards link amz gave above is definately the most active one.
    good luck!

yes, nice music but large debt owed to EITS. i'm not too fond of the singing but it could grow on me. Thanks anyway

oh, and it probably makes more sense to reply if you like more than 4 of these bands, just for compatibility's sake.

I'm 16, been playing guitar for 4 years now and love most of the bands you mentioned, haven't heard of some. Couldn't sing if my life depended on it but you never know, could be a good thing.
