[World News]: London, Jan 14 : A Romanian couple that met each other on the Internet has named their baby "Yahoo", the Daily Times reported today.

Nonu and Cornelia Dragoman say they had a virtual relationship for three months before seeing each other. Cornelia told Libertatea newspaper:

Ah lads just give your future kid a NORMAL name - i have an "unusual" name and it gets old pretty quick with people not pronouncing it right or spelling it wrong or trying to chat me up by telling me it's unusual etc...

Give your kids an early start in life. Give them names like Doctor, Queen, General, and so on.

    It could work.
Or it could have disasterous consequences! Imagine naming your kid devourer of souls?

I think I'll call my kid Joey Joe Joe Junior Shabadoo.

I like Plaguebearer O' Grady, has a nice ring to it.

But if you really wanted to give your kid a good headstart in life, you could call him playboy?

even remotely strange names suck. try caraher, my surname. it's pronounced the way it's spelt. ka ra her. yet, i'm being called 'o callagher' and 'carager'

and it doesn't help when your french teacher calls you 'carabo'.

but, shouldn't the kids name be yahoo! with the exclamation mark? or even YIM? (i'm presuming they're talking about yahoo instant messanger)

You think your surname is bad try Schaffalitzky de Muckadell. Also pronounced phonetically (shh-affa-lit-ski) it seems to be a major challenge to everyone to pronouce right.....it got mumbled at my graduation as the Registrar hadn't a clue. Spellings also seem to be a bit hapahzard.

I'm currently working on crazy first names for my children too :D

It was a lie all along...

    From Yahoo! News:
BUCHAREST, Romania (Reuters) - A Romanian tabloid said on Monday it had fired a reporter for making up a story about a couple who named their son Yahoo as a sign of gratitude for meeting over the Internet.

Bucharest daily Libertatea published a story this month saying two Romanians had named their baby for the popular Web site and printed a picture of his birth certificate. The news was published internationally, including by Reuters.

"It was the reporter's child's birth certificate, which he modified," said Simona Ionescu, Libertatea's deputy editor-in-chief. "We fired him."

She said Ion Garnod, who had worked for the paper for several years, had admitted inventing the story to look good.

"If it were real, it would have been a good story indeed," Ionescu said.

Garnod was not available for comment.

Ah, well, it was funny while it lasted.
