Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I always like to do this with my friends when they claim United are past it etc etc, so I thought it'd be cool to do it here.
I'm gona do united, do your own team, its interesting :)

    5 years away!
If a player is late twenties, e.g. Van Nist, ignore him, so we don't have the arguments of KEANO WILL STILL BE THERE WHEN HES 38!!!!!! :)

    Howard
    Brown - Rio - Spector - Heinze

Ronaldo - Fletcher - ? - Eagles(I really like this guy, think he can make it)

    Saha - Rooney

I think all that needs to be brought in is a good right back replacement for United, a CM like Gerrard, and a spanish/dutch sensational left winger :)

If I could have anyone in my team, I'd get
    Gerrard - CM
    Vincente/Joaquin - Left Winger
    Torres - Forward
    Collocini - Right full back
    Cech - Goalie
Deigo - To replace Scholes, I just love him from Cm :)

The way things are looking at Celtic I'd say it would be:

    Douglas

    Agathe---Balde---Varga---McNamara

    Petrov--Lennon--Thompson--McGeady

    Sutton--Hartson

And they say Deadly Doug Ellis is bad.

PHB, I'd say Rossi will be your left winger in 5 years time. Read promising things about him.

rossi looks alright in the reserves, you have eagles on the left but he is right footed, do you think saha will be there next season? i have my doubts

Fergie loves Saha. He aint going anywhere. Given an extended run he will really show what he can do.

    Mine would be
    Cuddicini(next summer)
    Brown
    Spector
    Rio(capt)
    Heinze
    Jones
    Fletcher
    ??
    Ronaldo
    Rooney
    Torres(Next summer)

    Torres?? You wish

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

Yeah I forgot about Rossi, he could be interesting, not that sure about Jones, I've only ever seen him once though.

I'd have Eagles and Ronaldo on the wings, swapping lots since both are righties :)

What do you think will happen to Beattie , Wallace and Marshall ?

It was a slightly sarcastic post, I just posted up MON's current first choice team.

Its not as easy to post a team for 3-5 years time as it would be at Man U because we've only got old and young players. Its too hard to predict whether the older players will be up for it in 3 years and its also hard to predict if the younger players like Beattie and Wallace will live up to their early promise. There's plenty of 22-26 year olds at United while Petrov would be the only first teamer of that age bracket at the club. We've so many young players close to the first team (Beattie, Maloney, Wallace, McGeady, McManus, Cuthbert, Rocco Quinn, Kennedy, two Icelandic signings) and so many oldies (too many to name). Actually, just looking at our squad on the site, Petrov is actually the only player at the club in the age bracket of 22-28 (edit: well, Valgaeren and Laursen will be 29 in 2 months at the latest and Sylla will be sold this month).

    Taylor / Stack

    Cole
    Senderos
    Toure
    Hoyte / Eboue

    Reyes / Smith
    Fabregas
    Flamini
    Pennant / Owusu-Abeyie

    Van Persie / Bentley
    Lupoli / Aliadiere

Nice additions would be a new keeper, Essien or Yaya Toure in CM, a centreback and Bojinov or Torres up front :)

and to think theres no room for Clichy  , Stokes , is someone who could well find himself up for a place in the starting line up in the same perioed as the players you have there are .

you could do with a forward who will bang in some goals not three flair players

the entire current spurs squad minus Naybet and michael brown :)

and get a decent right back, an additional viera type in midfield (lampard would do nicely :))

and to be honest, thats it.

flair and banging in goals aren't mutually exclusive.
Adriano is never going to join Chelsea, hes never going to leave Inter, and if he does it'll be to real

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,981 ✭✭✭Big Ears

Adriano scores goals and Lampard is not like vieira .

Looking down through everyones teams, do people really think that the likes of United, Arsenal and Chelsea will really only have added one or maybe two players to their first team five years down the line?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,386 ✭✭✭smuckers

I honestly can't see that only 2 or 3 will be there in 5 years, they are just the players who have been earmarked. JM doesn't rate Brdige at all so there will be a new LB, Gerrard is a done deal I have been told and he's a great admirer of Adriano.

Stealing Mourinho's formation? ;) BTW, Fergie doesn't see O'Shea as a LB anymore, Heinze, P.Neville and Fortune would all be ahead of him for that position atm.

and I doubt Vicente would like a move to United (currently) .

United are currently playing with this 4-3-2-1 kind of formation.....I dont think its one that fergie has copied from mourinho, I think as far last season he decided this was theire best formation and during the european game he tried to play scholes in the whole with can nistelrooj on his own etc. didnt really work, now he has rooney who can play in the hole, upfront and is doing a decent defensive job when he plays on the left....that said the left is all the more improved due to heinze. Dont want this turning into a united thread just pointing out that altho the lineup may suggest 4-4-2 of late united have played this other formation, especially when we've had the players to be able to play it.....Saha plays well on his own up front i believe thats why he was bought. Van Nistelrooj plays well on his own up front etc.

    anyway on topic

GK: Howard (dunno who they'll target for this one but i doubt he'll be here)
    DL: Heinze
    DC: Ferdinand
    DC: Brown (pique)
    DR: Spector
MC: Miller/DjembaDjemba ( like to see Gerrard, then again who wouldn't?)
    MC: Fletcher
ML: Richardson (like to see Downing)
    MR: Ronaldo
    SC: Rooney
    SC: Smith

Dunno about O'shea thought about where id have him...he has played well in the carling cup at DC but i dunno....

United have been playing that formation for quite some time now... They started playing it when Veron signed in order to have him in the team.

Fortune and P. Neville will be past it by the time Rossi and Pique are in the team. Might have Spector in there instead of O'Shea.
