Hey, a thread was done about a week ago and it seems everyone including myself on IOLBB was spiking to 200-300 ping every 2 minutes or so. This is still happening to me. Is anyone else experiencing it still ?

Ok so I'm not that only one, that's good. People may not have noticed as there's no affect on download speeds, just games and the like.

Looking at what SyxPak posted you are. Anything happen to your phone line recently? Dog...cat...toddler ... get hungry?

Just did the pinging myself anyhow:

3 time outs. Not sure why. Could be some of my auto refreshing pages. Other than that all was fine.

Unless you're talking about a single solitary 200-300? I would imagine if you've any number of sites that have refreshing ads on them or the like that'd grab bandwidth for a moment. Is once every few minutes that bad?

It's probably just Big Brother getting it's update on how (il)legal your system is etc. :P

I'm not so sure it's just me, as only last week there was a huge amount of people complaining of this problem on boards, but the thread seemed to disolve. It's literally only seconds with the 200-300, then back to normal, then 2 minutes later it happens again.

And you missed a bit in Syxpaks yoke.

Looks like the same problem I have

Cina - you are most definitely not the only one with this problem. I've made god knows how many complaints to IOL tech support about it ... and I've basically been told to f*ck off and come back with evidence.

What made it even more annoying was that the games server that I was connected to was IN iol ... it was an IOL games server, and people in England were getting half my ping, and it was without the spikes.
    *sigh*

I'd say do tracerts. That way you can see where the jump in ping is happening.
Might be on ur end or server side. At least u will have "evidence".

I did this - 3 times, and identified 2/3 (can't remember now) different nodes that were causing the problem every single time.

What did they do? They ignored me

It's a joke at this stage, It happened a few times before but it was for (at the most) about a day. This has been ongoing since Last Friday now.
I rang them up myself and they told me it was an issue with my line, absolute horse****.

    That was last November

And it's still happening. Horsh*te is an understatement.

I get a 150ms ping spike about every 5-10 minutes or so, big deal?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,243 ✭✭✭zoro

It's not a big deal if it's every now and again. These things happen, there's nothing that can be done about it.
What I'm annoyed about is that it's a consistant problem. It doesn't just happen, it's regular - all the time. This destroys online gaming as your ping unstable.

Add to this their flat out refusal to acknowledge that there's a problem and it gets worse

sadly tho it aint stopping u win zoro :)

i had one bad weekend but have never really noticed a consistant series of spikes and i play most nights. but im sure its gona happen sooner rather than later. i too have been in contact with iol support and i agree with zoro its a joke. they take no responsibility and try to blame the fault at your end.

i wonder if i didnt pay them could i blame their side :D

Heh :) Well it happens every single day and night, regardless of map or server. (UT2004 in specific here)

That one really gets on my t*ts. They have my god damn history on file, and it's bloody obvious that I've already called you 3 times today about this f*cking problem, so WHY ARE YOU STILL ASKING ME FOR A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM. F*cking retards.

No no. :) I saw it. One 150 in 5 minutes of pinging is nothing, in my opinion. Router probably got bored and went to talk to one of IOLs routers (slacker).

:P I dunno what causes it to be honest. Dan(zoro)'s been complaining for months. If not since he eventaulyl wrangled his phone out of Eircom's claws!
