Steph, exactly how many people have you promised a place under the sink to? Because I want to know who I'm going to be sharing the cramped darkness with!
You probably don't want to know how many...
And actually, is there even any space under the sink? You could just all live in the kitchen. Or maybe, I'll kill my roommate, and you can use her room. :D

And yeah, there must be an ipod celebratory reunion soon... or maybe after the mocks, but soon anyway.

Are your mocks after the mid-term Steph?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,851 ✭✭✭PurpleFistMixer

Nope. I've got English and Maths paper 1s tomorrow. I feel I should be studying or something... maybe.... meh.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 466 ✭✭Caoimhe

I figure if I made it through 3, I can make it through another 5. I just have to study the night before....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,851 ✭✭✭PurpleFistMixer

Yeah. Cramming is the only way to learn.

Actually, on that topic, my sister came up with an amusing idea that CTYI should run a one week "OH HOLY GOD MY LEAVING CERT" course, the week or so before the thing starts which is basically cramming 2 years of learning into.. well, about a week.

With a day left over for random cross-dressing and pie eating of course...

    Indubitably.

hehe... I'm in fifth year, no mocks to worry about, just continous undending study and work. Also fun, of course.
I'm thinking session 2, psychology, philosophy, legal studies... I'm sure there'll be something else for me to put down as my last choice. Can't do session 1, I will not be in the country.
I can't actually remember the beginning of this thread. Oh well. Hey someone mentioned the Taking Back Sunday gig. What did you think? They were alright I thought, nothing that special though. Sorry, in case I mortally offended you and insulted your very favourite band! The support were hilarious ...poor Charlie, no one will ever let him forget his Busted days and become a proper musician. Well, his new band are pretty crappy too, but I feel sorry for him.

Damn you all. I have no ipod or other mp3 player.

    Curses.

Taking Back Sunday were brilliant. In a really great way.
I was so crazily close to the front. There was only one guy between me and the barrier. So I got crushed, repeatedly, and it was great!
    I could go on but I shan't.

And I completely thought Charlie was bleeding jam, to be honest... only someone said they actually saw the girl who threw the can, so what can one argue?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 71 ✭✭snuffles

I was three people from the front. Unfortunately one of those people was a HUMAN MOUNTAIN.

Nice thing about the Ambassador is you can see the stage pretty clearly no matter where you stand.

And Charlie was actually bleeding, it was in a newspaper, according to one of my friends. I didn't think they were that bad, nothing amazing, but not awful either. It's out of line chucking stuff at ANYONE trying to play guitar for an audience, no matter how crap they are.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,851 ✭✭✭PurpleFistMixer

    Oh yes. Especially not PANTIES!

I think that might have been a waste of 10 euro.

See I wriggled infront of that human mountain, after hitting him repeatedly with my hair I think he let me.

I remember a gig with 2 man mountains in front of me. The trick is to punch them in the back.

Someone's punching man-mountains?! Careful now, there's a good chance you'll punch me if you keep that up. And then I'll be angered... :p

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 466 ✭✭Caoimhe

Aw Irwin m'darling, I'd never punch you, there'd be too much giblet-related screaming...

Yeah i always wondered about that, care to explain irwin? Hmmmm?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 182 ✭✭HeyYou

That's a hilarious link, made even more hilarious by the fact that I didn't know that "giblets" was a generally-accepted way to refer to your, ahem...bits and pieces. I just thought it was funny the way everyone automatically jumped to that conclusion! It seems the jokes on me, using the word "giblets" in that way was not an original creation.

Hey Matt, you're a bassist. Get thee to the Intruments forum and read my Fame thread. Ever played one? I haven't but they sound delectalicious and there's a Baphomet 5 that's a callin' me. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,851 ✭✭✭PurpleFistMixer

Noo... it spreads into the CTYI forum...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

Indeed. I like the Arias but that's a mighty fine critter there and a five-string would suit David quite nicely. :D

Since when do you refer to yourself in the third person?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

Since shut up! That's when! :P But yeah, it'd mean I wouldn't have to downtune at random for jazz parts. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,217 ✭✭✭Matthewthebig

2shay! Get a 6 string just to have it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

    Ever played a six-string? It's a bastard to play with a pick, and I play fingerstyle! :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,217 ✭✭✭Matthewthebig

No but.. shuddup! I finger as well!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

:p Mine's almost as fast as a good picking speed at this stage. :) That's what playing 12-bar blues in 4/4 at 300BPM'll get you kiddies*.

*May also cause horrible pain and cramps in forearm.

Has anyone ever played an 8 string bass? I've only ever seen a photo of one once. They're the bass equivalent of a 12 string guitar, 4 sets of double courses. Anyone ever played (or seen) one?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

No but I really want to. They're designed for bands with only one guitarist to fill out the sound somewhat.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 619 ✭✭✭pinkpimp

My friend made a 6 string bass. It's simply amazing...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

I love six-strings, but unless you happen to play for Dream Theater there just isn't really enough use for them. Five will do me nicely. I can't ever see myself actively using the C string enough to justify it, and as I've said before, they're a bitch to play, especially fingerstyle. On a related note so Colm's post, one of my ambitions in life is to build my own guitar, not to have one custom built but to actually do it myself, from scratch, body, neck, possibly pickups, everything. It'll be terrible but it'll have my signature sound. :p

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,880 ✭✭✭Raphael

Also, if you build your own guitar it will be perfect. A friend of a friend made his own, and it has really weird fret spacings so no one else can play it. But when he's using it, it's just...wow

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

If I do it right it will be perfect. However if I do it right it'll be a frickin' miracle. :p I'd also love to get a baritone Les Paul and refret it for better spacing. Les Paul tone with the fret spacing on my Ibanez. Yummy. ;) If I did that to a normal Les Paul I'd end up with all of about... five frets. Ah, the joys of guitar nerddom.

No that's where the sound comes out...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

Unless of course it's a solid-body electric, in which case, for future reference, a guitar will not, I repeat will not, stop a cannonball.
