Seems like a good deal, you can get the set of 500 for €95 including delivery to ireland

I'm checking out this page at the moment, just waiting to hear back from the guy about the costs of delivery to ireland:

I found the choice of chips to be a bit limited on drinkstuff.

http://www.pool-and-poker.com is a US site with a much better selection and the prices are better even with the increased delivery costs.

Just a word on chips in general. A while ago I bought a set on ebay. The most common sets are 11.5g which mine was. These chips are heavy but slip and slide all over the place. Don't get me wrong they are good chips but I would have preferred something more like the fitz chips, i.e. a bit lighter so I think the 7.5/8g chips are probably more akin to casino chips in feel and use so if fitz weight chips is what you're looking for then save a few bob and buy an 8g or 7.5g (spotted on drinkstuff) set. There is a 9.5g set on that poker and pool site. Might be ok.

No idea what these cost in Special Days but
these look the exact same as the ones in the window of
A Day to Remember in the Stillorgan Shopping Centre.
Cost (In Sale) reduced to 89.95 Euro!
Cost on the website (excluding shipping) 38.99 USD (about 30 Euro).

I saw these and me likes a lot:
    http://www.pool-and-poker.com/customer/product.php?productid=634&cat=84&page=1

A lot nicer than most of the chips out there and all together they work out at €110 including delivery.

But, and there is always a buy! 28-40 days delivery!!! ouch, think I'm going to get these. Never played in the casino before (should be making my entrance on Wednesday night!) But I'm kinda use to the 11.5g chips from playing with friends, and I heard this was the normal casino weight, guess not then!?

you'll probably be stung with customs when they arrive so be careful i've ordered from states before it nearly doubled the price of my fancy new trainers.....

The 1 euro chips (and the tournie chips) are 9 gram chips (composites I think). The closest I've gotten to them is the Special Days antique car collection chips. Naff car labels but nice chips.

    DeV.

Import charges for all product from outside EU are calculated as follows

Cost of product + freight charge + 7.9% duty on combined product & freight charge + 21% VAT on combined product, freight & duty charge.

The net effect for a $100 set with $40 delivery charge is an additional $50-$60!

Factory prices have come down substantially in the last few week, so you will reductions filter to retail very quickly. - Special Days new prices will take effect from next week with the new shipment arriving. (Example - 400 11.5g with WPT / BEE cards will be €99 - 400 13g clay with bee/wpt card $139)

If you sign up (first time only) at Pacific Poker through this link (and I assume a load of other ones as well), you get a FREE 500 chip set.
Usual raked hands, however if you live OUTSIDE of the USA you have to pay the shipping!
I assume the shipping is buckets but never done it so no idea.
Might be handy if you have friends/family living over there and coming back here soon?

This thread gives a link to Gof HQ site where I bought my chips. 500 chips in case for under €90, I believe they are cheaper now, and delivered in less then a week. Krusty and Canaboid also bought chips here, and all of us seem to think it was money well spent.

oki pass that link on will you?

Interesting, I totally forgot about the import charges. I'm a bit bitter because the chips on this american site are well nice, a lot nicer than the usual. Probably being a bit picky but for something that you'll use so often and for a long time it's probably worth it.

Sometime you don't get stung for the import do you...

Might just wait to see what happens in Special Days.

    I will let you know..
I just signed up but through a different way. Throught this link:
    http://www.pokersourceonline.com/forum/viewtopic~t~2189.php

Sign up to Party Poker or Pacific Poker or a couple of others and use the promotion code PSO (plus follow the instructions to the link above, you have to register in their forums and enter your name into the comments box when you are signing up). You have to deposit a min of $100 and play 250 raked games to qualify. I signed up earlier, got my 250 raked games and I'm just waiting to hear back from them. Should be 10 days max. Then apparntley the chips will be dispatched. Haven't heard anything about shipping yet, so I'm still remaining skeptical. Either way I won money there and have took out a profit so what they hey! Nothing ventured nothing gained ;)

There's alot of outfits doing things like that. If you become an affiliate of the main poker sites they pay you $200 for each person you get to sign up. So its easy to buy $50 worth of chips when they get paid $200 at no risk to themselves.

Just got these chips and this table top today. Delivery was well fast and cheap. Chips are nice 7.5g, lighter and more Fitz like to the touch. I'm a happy camper. Home game coming up soon to test it all out.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,622 ✭✭✭✭okidoki987

39.99 GBP (Euro 59) for the chips looks great value.
Was there postage on top of that?

I think postage was a tenner with table top. Might be less with only the chips.

that's quite a good site. They've recently added a 10 seater foldaway poker table. Looks very nice :) Due end of the month afaik.

Atm i'm happy with the chips you get in the texas hold'em set from argos at £14.99. 200 chips and a rack for them. Nice enough deal.
