Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Some information on the Ashdown Fallen Angel amps (I know someone is looking for one)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,135 ✭✭✭✭John

Never been a fan of amps with on board effects. The schecter is nice

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

Yeah, I was considering a C1+ at one stage. Don't remember what happened to that thought...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,684 ✭✭✭david

Thats not the amp i was looking at, mine is the all valve one sans effects.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,361 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

    Fecking guitarists.....

Yeah the normal fallen angel I think would be a better purchase.

yes except nowhere stocks them. Not thomann, not Musictechnology ireland (cheap as thomann prices) not anywhere that aint a rip off. I was thinking about maybe a solid state combo, 2x12 under 500.
The Hughes and Kettner warp7 212 is supposed to be amazing clean and overdrive. It has a bit of a Nu metal tag but it's apparently a great all round hi-gain amp.
    H&K warp 7

The Fender FM212 the Feylya is getting is also supposed to have great clean but not so great hi-gain overdrive.
    FM212r

I don't feel the need for valves at the moment cos they cost a bit to mantain etc. SS i feel is the best option.

What suggestions do others have? Oh, and no on-board effects please

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,361 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Yes, I was impressed with the clean from that Fender. And the overdrive is nice enough. But I've renamed it the "Fender Loudener" cos that's all it's gonna be doing to my ME-50.

As for the Fallen Angel, I'm really not surprised it's not readily available. It's only being launched it seems...

I think it's been out for a few years... It's the DSP one thats new out... Looks pretty sweet though

    "January 16, 2003"

It's two years old. Charlotte Hatherly from ash uses the big 180 watt all tube fecker. I saw a program on MTV2 about Ash and the amp glowed like satans beer fridge!

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,361 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

****, it's 2005 already? Balls... Mmm, Satan's Beer Fridge. Anyone want to start a band called that?

What about a Fender RockPro amp, solid state clean and two channels of valve overdrive? I know DoctorJ likes them and the guitarist in my band uses one and they sound very nice, very versatile.

The Fallen angels can be got from english sites for around 600-700 euro including shipping. There really nice amps. Was really impressed by the tone of them. Ashdown make some really nice gear..

Behringer have unveiled 78 new products at NAMM.
I like the look of their Boss imitation stomp boxes. Around €23 for each of them.:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,135 ✭✭✭✭John

Just select a pedal, then on the new window, select your country.

Wonder what the quality would be like. Behringer stuff isn't always the best but I suppose at €23 you can't really go wrong.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,361 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

    Worth a shot anyway.

Any Behringer stuff I've played has sounded awful. I'd get a better sound plugging straight into an empty Corn Flakes box

It certainly does and if its anything like the Adrenalinn it should be a great little box, I really like those beat synced effects on the Adrenalinn.

Amen. Cheap effects = Good effects? No.

Its the same for most if not all musical equipment. Save and get quality as opposed to getting a substitute for the time being. You only pay in the long run!!!

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,361 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

TBH, I wouldn't mind setting aside €100 or so to try them out.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 800 ✭✭✭dabhoys

M-audio stuff is excellent :) I'm talking in general about musical gear. M-Audio isn't actually that cheap either...

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,361 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

I meant the new Behringer pedals tbh...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 800 ✭✭✭dabhoys

Behringer live stuff isn't too bad. We use the cross over in college and its class. But for recording I would stay well clear :(

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,361 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Ah, I'm just talking about for fecking around with.

That's mighty purty. I love the arched top and back on the S I have. There's nothing like a guitar you get excited just by looking at it. I've got a lot of love for the good folks at Ibanez

okay, so PRS get sued for the singlecut, how long before ESP get litigated against? It even has the closest inlays as is humanly possible to the Gibson one! in fact i thought it was a gibson but was soon righted when i saw the ESP Circley yoke.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

I have an ESP Jazz bass made in Japan in the mid 80's and when I say it's an exact replica, I mean exact. It's the same, to the millimetre (apart from a tiny difference in the shape of the headstock) as my Fender 62 RI Jazz bass. Great fuggin bass though :)

the only differences i've noticed is that one volume knob is different from the other, and the pickup selector switch isn't marked.
