....not that I know any customers yet but they seem to have launched .

Budget are presently aiming at Business Users, unlike Clearview and IBB who have a residential option. Business packages are a great option if you are the only one 'contending' in the evening and weekends :)

    Website

    http://www.budgetwireless.biz/

    Packages

    1024/1024 €129 + VAT per month 20:1 , No Cap I think.
    1024/1024 €199 + VAT per month 4:1 , No Cap I think.
2048/2048 €299 + VAT per month, 'No Contention' I think, , No Cap I think.

Install and Setup €242 Incl VAT for those.

    Contact

    01 214 3700

    Licence areas

    Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick

Residential and 0 Install options to be announced according to the site . I am not sure what the licence condition is, the residential package may have to be launched by the end of Feb or else they could be non compliant with their licence and could lose it.

No coverage map on the website, thats naughty !

    $^&*(&

    I'd have to dissagree.

It is a 0 contention leased line replacement package for businesses.

For a leased line of this speed you would expect to pay about 12k euro a year in dublin and about 22k outside (depending on location)

Its very competitive when compared with that.

Don't get too excited, flamegrill - the website has the following:
Business Services (excluding VAT @ 21%)
    ProductSetup Monthly
    SME BM0
    - 1Mb down, 256Kbps up
    - Unlimited data allowance
    - Contention 20:1 €0 €85
    SME BM1
    - 1Mb up and down
    - 64Kbps Committed
    - Contention 20:1 €199 €129
    SME BM2
    - 1Mb up and down
    - 256Kbps Committed
    - Contention 4:1 €199 €199
    SME BM3
    - 2Mb up and down
    - 256Kbps Committed
    - Contention 8:1 €199 €299
    Dedicated Wireless Leased Line
    - 512Kbps up and down
    - 512Kbps Committed
    - Contention 1:1 €999 €450
    Dedicated Wireless Leased Line
    - 1Mbps up and down
    - 1Mbps Committed
    - Contention 1:1 €999 €450
    Dedicated Wireless Leased Line
    - 2Mbps up and down
    - 2Mbps Committed
    - Contention 1:1 €999 €750
    Dedicated Wireless Leased Line
    - 3Mbps up and down
    - 3Mbps Committed
    - Contention 1:1 €1950 €1200
    Dedicated Wireless Leased Line
    - 4Mbps up and down
    - 4Mbps Committed
    - Contention 1:1 €1950 €1450
Offer subject to terms and conditions including a site survey and credit check

Residential Services (including VAT @ 21%)
    Product Setup Monthly
    Home HM1
    - 512Kbps down, 128Kbps up
    - data allowance 4Gbyte/month
    - Contention 48:1 0 €50

So your 2MB/2MB 1:1 works out at 999 + (750 x 12) = €9999 - not quite the massive saving we were expecting. The residential offering at €50 is overpriced compared to others, particularly with 48:1 and a 4GB cap, although entry-level business service @ €85 might be interesting - twice the bandwidth, lass than half the contention, and no cap.

Apart from the glaring omission of a coverage map, other not-quite professional touches include referring to their product as "Broadband Wireless DSL" - can anyone tell me what this is?! - and urging prospective employees to send their CV to Fax: +353 1 xxx xxxx.

It's marketing. They presume people equate "DSL" with "broadband".

"Budget" is an interesting name considering the prices. They are uncompetitive. Perhaps they will provide a premium service like Leap, but then Budget is a pretty stupid name to pick.
