so can we get a thread going to set up teh teams for the cs tournie and q3 etc. ?? and like if we going to be using cs 1.6 or source osp/cpma for q3 so we can have every thing sorted before the lan

Tbh unless there's a definite list of people coming (which there can't be...something always comes up for some people) then there aint much point on getting names together for the tournis. Captains, fair enough yes but the actual team picking should be left until the day.

I'd like to bring up the idea of set times for tournis and sticking to them but I think there's some reason why it wouldn't work...

Also, how about we discuss having a few big games of something? No set time but everyone acknowledges that they're going to play and remembers to setup the game rather than holding up everyone....

How about:

quakeworld: Clan Arena on dm3 - the game that lots of people can play with
relatively little skill on a map that's easy to
travel in and a game mode that's good for
beginners. As many as will play.

quake3 OSP 2on2 pro-q3dm6 - most people know this map and the game
isn't as hard to grasp as quakeworld, so no
need for a beginner game mode.

I can host both these on my pc if ye want it hosted "properly" then someone's gonna have to set them up on binary....syxpak is probably really busy so I don't know who could...

I agree with que though, theres no point organising teams just yet. For CS, if we could maybe set up 5 teams with 2-3 people on each one that we know will definetly be there, then we could just add to those on the day and save some time. Also hopefully the teams would be fairer, I dunno how Mak, Snipe etc were all on the same team last lan

For Q3 I'd say 2v2 instagib would be pretty cool. Less tactics involved and the games would be a lot quicker.

Would be good for normal games yeah but for the tourni, tactics etc are good imo..

Plus you can get lucky in instagib whereas to win a 10 minute 2on2 duel on pro-q3dm6 really requires some basic form of tactics and teamplay.

im bringing the cleggan lan dedacated server (it has been fixed since the last lan ) (Sniipe looked at it and it broke)
for a css tourny just for fun
no prizes just for the crack

its all set up with remote admin and scripts for tking and to keep oliver moveing with the dam auto sniper.

so it should be fun and lodes of maps old new and redone 1s

when they are used properly they are very usefull

thing is, they increase the load on the server.. which is bound to affect performance.

and it does.

the server runs it just as fast as normal it has plenty power
it makes the servers easter to configure and makes non tourny
matches more fun

it can be easly disabled for tournament
