For me - Billy Connolly. The guy rules.

    Anyone else?

    Billy Connolly,
    Eddie Izzard,
Milligan, Secombe and Sellers (40-odd years ago)
    John Cleese,
    Patrick Kielty...

Hmm... Notice a pattern? - The best comedians are the British (and some Irish)... still.

    ... and Connolly is king.

Exactly what Bard chose .. except after Eddie Izzard Dress to Kill, I'd rank him on a par with Connolly (Connolly has more material about, but they are both class).

The only difference in choice actually is that you listed Patrick Kielty ... may god help that man if i ever meet him in the street ... he is fkin woeful.

I'd throw someone like Dave Allen in there .. sarcy ******* .. has some less funny stuff, but class all the same.

Jason Byrne rox - I went to see him in Vickar Street for my birthday. Actually, he does play quite frequently, maybe we should look up the next time he does and organise a crew to go? Anyone up for it?

Actually- I take it back, - Kielty's alright, but he doesn't deserve to be in the same list as Izzard, Connolly and the Goons.

As everyone else says, Billy is the greatest living comedian, he can make me fall over clutching my throat, dribbling. But my fave is the late, oh so lamented Bill Hicks. Vicious, caustic, angry yet righteous humour. He was the man, and he's badly missed.

Im going to the bear fights tomorrow, want to come with ??

Alrighty, I assume this is a 'stand-up' only nomination.
So, Jack Dee and anyone else who has made me crap my knickers laughing.

On a side note: IMO Roy "Chubby" Brown is just cheap, anyone can get on stage and make fun of minority classes and throw in a few curses here and there.
Although Brendan O'Carroll uses bad language and basic filth, he still has more class than Brown... way more.

    bleh.
