Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Network shares on Windows2003

We're having a problem here with a new Windows2003 Server which is our
domain controller. It has directories shared, which users then map as
network drives on their desktops (which are all WinXP SP2).

The problem is that after the user has been logged in for a while the
network shares fail. Windows says the connection cannot be re-established.
They can still ping the domain controller etc, and it just requires them
to logout and then re-login for the network share to be restored.

I'm presuming its something to do with a timeout for the network shares,
and that once they relogin the timeout period is restarted.

Is this a well known issue, and has anyone a solution??

    Cheers...

Check the event logs on the local PC's.

How are the drives being mapped - using a login script?

What about licensing? Is your server limited to a certain amount of concurrent connections?

    OK
    Baby steps:

1.Check your cables, see if you have some warning /errors inthe Event viewer on the clients saying that the "lan card has been conected to network"
2.check "local area connection" Firewall on the Server
3.check,as well "LAN" Firewall on the client, and enable "File and Print Sharing"
4.Create a log book with the users and PCs that are giving you this errors

Check power saving on the clients and possibly the servers network card.
It's somewhere in the properties of the Network card in Device manager.
