    3 hours to kickoff

will be intresting to see if fergie will go with a full strenght team,i think he'd be a fool not to go with at least full strength and maybe just missing keane since its looking like a piece of silverware will be needed from somewhere to keep intrest while he builds the "new" team around the kids

will post team news when it comes up

I am sure he does not want to lose but will he risk it with boro in the FA Cup and Arsenal in the league in the next 6 days?
Should be an attacking match, hard one to call

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,937 ✭✭✭fade2black

My prediction is he'll play the same team as the first leg. A no brainer really. A mixture of first teamers and reserver/some time first teamers i.e Howard, O Shea, Brown, Djemba Djemba. There's gonna be a team of eleven good players that are capable of beating anyone on their day...these players are not playing for Man U for nothing you know. Spirit and determination are whats needed tonight.

hmm some good bets from the bookies

J Terry to score with a header 10 - 1 , is probly the best

    from paddypower

mayhaps ill make a slight wager ^^

I expect Keane to start, he's suspended on Saturday so can't play against Boro anyway. Utd are already almost guaranteed to finish in the Champions League places this year, so although he will really want to win on Tuesday he'll take a chance on keane.

It's important United beat chelsea tonight, not for the league cup, just to dent their confidence and hope they start to slip up in the league. fergie will have that in mind and will play a strong team tonight.

expect Keane, ferdinand, heinze, scholes and Smith all to start. Not just good players, but players who will put the boot in if and when required.

    2-0 to United

If both Robben and Duff start(and Cole doesn't) , then Chelsea will win for me .

Robben was missing for the first leg and it showed , not only will he add his individual skill , but when him and Duff link up it can be mezmorizing .
The reason I don't think Cole should play as he would leave Chelsea a lot more exposed than a Smertin or Tiago , without giving sufficient attacking posiablities to counter his poor defensive ones .

I dont care who might win but I bet Chelsea have the better starting 11 and Man Utd get the rub of the green!

    Mike.

I really dont care who wins either,i just wanna see a good match! I expect both sides to have a strong 11 from the start, because they both know how much a win will mean-not just in the competition, but for morale etc. As Iago said, a loss for Chelsea tonight, and there's the possibility of a slip-up in the league. Im sure Fergie knows this.....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,013 ✭✭✭✭eirebhoy

Fergie: "We're treating this match like a Champions league semi-final tie. I'll be making two or three changes from the weekend, but you can rest assured it will be a strong side. The team will definitely be up for it and so will the 67,000 fans and we're all looking forward to a cracking contest."

    0-1 Chelsea, Duff to score. 40/1. :)

yeah its gona be a great game. really looking forward to it. cant wait to see how robben does against utd.

i was dissappointed with a lot of the chelsea players two weeks ago, drogba was very poor when he came on. so im hoping for another good performance from utd to show the rest of the premiership that they can be beaten.

Ronaldo and Giggs v's Duff and Robben

this will be a hell of an attacking game. Reckon Drogba will prove better than Saha though.

Chelsea to win 0-1 with a controversial penalty.

I'm stuck in work, so I'm relying on you lot to keep me informed with witty observations and minute by minute action.

Any word on the teams yet?

Once its a decent game i cba.

Would like to see Heinze vs Duff/Robben would bet on him to win vs both and one of them to be hobbling rather quickly, god i love that guy.

    Seansouth
bbc are okish for minute by minute but "duff attacking inside right, left foot channel pass , throw" is a tad annoying.

Cheers, I don't have any access to streaming of any kind in here, I'll be following on the Guardian website football.guardian.co.uk , pure genius sometimes.

    Gary Neville, Ferdinand, Silvestre, Heinze,

    Ronaldo, Keane, Scholes, Fortune,

    Giggs, Saha.

Subs: Phil Neville, Brown, Rooney, O'Shea, Ricardo.

    Chelsea:

    Cech,
    Paulo Ferreira, Gallas, Terry, Bridge,

    Makelele, Lampard, Tiago,

    Robben, Drogba, Duff.

Subs: Cole, Gudjohnsen, Cudicini, Jarosik, Huth.

I can't wait to see Robben vs. Neville and Heinze, no chance :)
Duff on the other hand is a serious threat, I hope he is played on the right which I think he will.
Its been a while since Chelsea have played a team with this good a defence.
They only scored against aresnal on set pieces, United don't have that problem.
I don't think we'll be scored on, and if we do it'll be a shocker for me
I just saw Howard is playing, criky.
Its about time he had a stormer, this is his chance and he knows it. Chelsea are the team to make your name against as a keeper.

United to win this obviously :)

Now, thats not something which is seen very often, Jose Mourinho has just stood in the tunnel and shaken every Man Utd players hand as the walked out the tunnel. What a guy!

I can't seem to get worked up about this game, its really annoying.
I'd liike to be really up for it, but the only thing I care about is the effect on the premiership,
League Cup view from a Man Utd fan :)

I have to agree with you. Although if we score that will probably change.

    It will!

    Hows it looking so far?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

    United taking possesion, not penetrating.
Robben so far ineffective, looks nervous.
Duff is a threat, which he showed oin the one go of the ball, and crossed in a dangerous ball.

    Rio + Slyvestre look strong.
    Lampard has been silent.

    Chelsea are a threat though

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,346 ✭✭✭✭KdjaCL

    BORING!

Player gets ball in attacking position instantly 4 opp players take him .

20 minutes in not one shot not even a a blaster over the bar nowt not a dickiebird.
Prolly a cracking game in text based commentating :)

Away goal only comes in after extar time so plenty of time.

Game livening up both sides too cagey now its a lot more direct, getting good. Chelsea still v strong at the back.

Utd still no shots / free kick decent pos

    United I take it....description?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,346 ✭✭✭✭KdjaCL

Fortuen whacked in the back by Bridge , fairly def peno not much whinging about it tho on the pitch.

More like a weak foul that would barely warrant a free outside the box.

Im going to wait till the end of the English season , and im going to leave the Ireland one in for next season .But I probably am going to go for Shels again anyway . They were strong last season , but the 3 Bohs players will make them have so much depth as well as first 11 quality that there will most likely be no-one to keep up with them .
