About to leave us this Thursday
This Thursday will be the final chance to see the very black and very funny comedy AALTRA. Two grumpy middle-aged men lose the use of their legs in a bizarre agricultural accident. Thus begins an unpredictable road movie as they travel across Europe to demand compensation. Described by the Independent as a "sublimely nutty black farce", don't not miss the final performance of AALTRA on Thursday at 5:00pm.

    Playing this week
A VERY LONG ENGAGEMENT is Jean-Pierre Jeunet's follow-up to his immensely successful AMELIE is a flamboyant mixture of battlefront spectacle, home front romance, revenge drama and detective story. Audrey Tautou again takes up the lead role in this romantic love story which the Rolling Stone called "an emotional powerhouse...stunning?.
Also playing this week, is the amazing surfing documentary RIDING GIANTS. Director Stacy Peralta's previous film DOGTOWN AND Z-BOYS gave us the lowdown on the world of skateboarding. RIDING GIANTS beautifully captures the comradeship and community of surfing, it's characters and foibles in a hugely entertaining film well worth seeing.

    New in
Hugely popular at the Cork Film Festival last year was the music documentary THE RAMONES: END OF THE CENTURY. It traces the story of the infamous New York band whose violently new and raw sound reinvented the rock genre. Catch this snapshot of the 70s NYC punk scene from Friday.
