Semisonic 'Closing Time' or 'Secret Smile'

One of my favourite bands.. but didn't make much of an effect on charts / radio.

    One hit wonder (unproven) fact:

'Spirit In The Sky' is, as far as I know, the only song ever to be a one hit wonder for two totally different artists, Norman Greenbaum originally and then Doctor and the Medics sometime in the eighties. Both times the song got to number one in the charts, with Greenbaum doing nothing of note afterwards and the Medics struggling with a couple of low chart position songs before giving up.

There you go. I find that fascinating...

Aye, complete crap, but they have been around since the mid-90s, believe it or not.

Was that Five Pointe O song called King Of The Hill or something?

Good god, someone dissing FNM? One of the most original bands in the Rock and Metal genre? I sincerely take pity on your lack of an IQ.

Well Technically Blue Oyster Cult are one hit wonders, despite having lots of great albums.
The Ramones never had a hit.

I think the best One Hit Wonder I've ever heard was My Sherona by The Knack... everyone knows the song alright but I don't think I've ever met anyone who knew the name of the band...

    Well, thats true, but
    A: It's a cover
B: It doesn't sound at all like their normal stuff
C: It never charted in their Home country
D: Can anyone even remember that song? How many people know Blitzkreig bop, which never charted.

Woah! Does it hurt to be that stupid?!

  • Registered Users Posts: 316 ✭✭LightofDarkness

Heh, this is the part where he either comes back saying we're all stupid and he doesn't care what anyone thinks (but in doing so clearly shows he's tearfully upset by it all and obviously DOES care) or he says he has a disease that is either A) Terminal or B) brain damaging. Aghast I say. AGHAST.

Another OHW is the Friends theme song. And Puddle of Mud with "She F'ing Hates Me." Damn I hate Kerrang! for perpetuating it and being so outstanding in the field of crap music shamelessly promoted.
