Hi everyone how are you doin? I live in Dublin and thought that there should be a dublin thread, so you can post any hobby shops or places you go to race, on-road or Off-road.

Im kinda new, Ive been searching the internet for about a month now trying to find any facts about R/C cars, I must of read around 50 articles comparing electric-gas(nitro). I made a decision that I want a nitro powered Stadium truck Or MAYBE a buggy.
If you have any recomendations of shops, please write down the adress or atleast the phone number.
    SEE YA

Carson is the specialist model car racing division of Tamiya.
They are one of the biggest model car manufacturers in the world.

They have several classes of cars from "sport" to "pro".

Green Hobbies & Model in Harolds Cross, Dublin are the Irish importers and distributers of Carson models.

There are places to use off-roaders everywhere and the size of Ireland is not relevant.

What you do is go where the kids go with off-road bikes, thats ideal for RC trucks & buggies too....
I'll bet you or your pals have already biked in the past at some place that's just perfect for RC off-road.

As far as RC in Ireland goes, RC is just as popular here as other countries, it is the club infrastructure that is smaller here. It could possibly be because we are highly self reliant in Ireland, many modellers often preferring individual use to organised group races. Indeed, buying an off-roader is a recognised way of getting away from the rules & regulations of club tracks.

Anyway, the local model shop is always the centre of the local "network" of information., with the local club being the other "network". The guys hang out in the shop & club exchanging info & setting up activities.

The "other" reason for wanting a club, is because learning RC cars is harder than many thought it would be, having got a long distance mail order delivery that doesn't go. A long distance phone call to Tower for advice will eat up all the "savings" plus a lot more €€€. Suddenly the local modellers network, (either shop or club) becomes attractive, because of the free advice there, and saving the last cent is now less important .

    Practical suggestions:
If you need a place to RC truck, just look around, the BMX place is the one.
If you want a club, talk to your pals and form a club. It's easy.
If you want expertise, go to an Irish shop, buy something, and get it.
If you want the names of people nearby who have expertise, (and already have a club) the shop will know , ask them while you are there...

I hope this answers the questions you asked. :)

Good luck with your RC trucking, it's a great hobby.

    It's on-road rally mainly.
There is talk of an off-road track from the club type guys, but the off-road folks are already out there and don't need one....the bmx track at St Enda's Rathfarnham is not too far away either. :)

what model cars do they run are they RTR's or are they kit cars ,electric or nitro and is this a car park or a proper track they run in.

    Hi Guys,

I just got the info. below, sounds good.

    NEWSLETTER
Irish Model Racing Car Club and Dublin
    Model Car Club
    Easter 2005
    *
    Newsflash !! Newsflash !! Newsflash !!
The IMRCC and the DMCC are delighted to announce to all our members and friends that we have got the ‘green light’ from the South Dublin County Council to go ahead with our new racing venue at Camac Valley, Corkagh Park, Clondalkin.
Our regular racers have been kept up to date with negotiations and developments, so this is to let you know we will be up and running in a few weeks, and most certainly in time for Round 1 of the National Electric Off-road Championship on 14th and 15th May and Round 2 of the National Electric On-road Championship on 22nd May.

For those of you who have not been trackside for a while maybe with our new and improved facilities you might want to come and race. We have a large tarmac area available to us and as much grass as we need. We hope to be able to accommodate both electric and IC classes from Mini-Stox to Monster Trucks, so if you have it bring it and have some fun.

We invite all those interested to meet on the track so we can choose the most appropriate times for racing. We hope to race on both Saturdays and Sundays. If there is enough interest we will hold a mid-week evening meeting for either racing or practice, depending what people want. We will be at the track next Saturday 2nd April from 1pm till 3pm and on Sunday 3rd April from 12noon till 2pm to meet all those interested and discuss all suggestions.

The new racing venue is at the new flyover on the Naas Dual Carriageway at
Kingswood. Our entrance is beside the entrance to Camac Valley Caravan and Camping Park, so if you follow the directions for it you won’t go wrong. If you need more directions or to meet at a different time please contact any of the following :-

    Hi everyone,

I'm Mick, same person that is listed as a contact for the model car racing that Kevin posted.

We'll be out at the new venue this week-end, Saturday 2nd April from 1pm till 3pm and on Sunday 3rd April from 12noon till 2pm.

So if you're intrested in racing on-road / off-road / nitro / electric come on out.

    MiCk B. :-)

    Hi Guys,

The track is really well planned out, its nice and open with some sweeping corners and some very tight technical sections. At the moment the grip level is really high as the track has just been cut. Mick B has informed me that after about two to three more cuts the grip level will settle down. There are some jumps planned and they are currently being designed. :)
If any of you can possibly get out this Sat or Sun then I highly recommend that you bring a car or two with you and have a run!

I'll be bringing onroad & off road, the tarmac there is as smooth as glass!

    Hope to see you there,

    Karl

Here's a pic of the venue.

The off-road track is in the foregound and where we'll run on-road is in the background.
