If I find the download rates are not acceptable they will be getting it back and I will stick with Eircom.

I suppose it depends on where in Blanch you are... I have a feeling the node on the Atrium building is full now, because my signal has gone to the dogs in the last couple of weeks. I don't know if they have nodes elsewhere. As an aside, I wouldn't touch IBB Ripwave with a bargepole again... I only used it as a stopgap until ntl came along as cant use Eircom over phonewatch alarm.

Spoke to IBB during the week as I noticed from their maps they were putting a base site in the Clonsilla area - appears to be going on the mast down at the Railway station and will offer the Breeze and Ripwave products ...

It can be used, but it costs a bomb to get it working. Eircom insist on sending out an engineer to do something to the phone line 300 euros. Then phnewatch need to come out and do something else to the phone line, another 200 euros so I was told by Eircom and phonewatch.... so technically you can get it in, but why would you bother for that money???

    Get NTL for free!

I have phonewatch and i got it. Cost 70 for the eircom technician to come out and that was it. Dont no where your getting your figures from.

That was the figure quoted to me by Eircom, and then by the Phonewatch guy that serviced my alarm. I wasn't going to order it to find out it was cheaper! The Phonewatch guy told me that if they didn't come out after the Eircom guy, that there could be an issue where they wouldn't support the alarm! After hearing that crap I decided not to bother... both companies under the Eircom umbrella but won't even do a deal amongst themselves!
If it works for you, fine, but it most definitely was not for me!

I don't understand your poor performance, as I have had no problems... you're in Castleknock, right?
I wonder is your house older, that maybe the cable into it is not as good quality or something? I feel for you, as I had the opposite problems with IBB and ther is nothing more annoying. Just keep ringing them and pointing out that others in the local vicinity are getting fine responses, so why not you?

House is 5 years old! They have accepted ther eis a problem in my area. I'm living near the Carpenter pub in Luttrelstown. A new area. They said they will sort it out with new gear ! I will wait !

Are you a gamer? I get good pings on one or two tests like yours but try a proper test over an hour and you will see what I mean !! ;-) maybe

I'm not a gamer yet, haven't got any decent games to play with :( lack of funds at the mo.
I'll try a longer test for you if you want... what would you like, a constant ping to www.jolt.co.uk??

Let me know and I can stick it in a txt file and post it up here for you later (in work at the mo)

Yes NTL are rolling out ot all the 'nice' and 'new' estates.
All the private estate on the huntstown/hartstown horseshoe ,
castleknock even the apartments at the shopping centre
but non of the older 'mixed' estates between .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,518 ✭✭✭daymobrew

    Send ping/traceroute/tracert logs to customer.support@ ntl.ie too.
but none of the older 'mixed' estates between .
There might be an element of 'luck' here - it all depends on the state and quality of the supply cables in place. For my 6 year old estate (Riverwood, near Coolmine train station) they only had to put in 2 way switches (to allow data go upstream). In some parts of Riverwood they can't get ntl bb! I don't know why.
