Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Everton are reported to have agreed a deal to sign Mikel Arteta on loan from Real Sociedad.

Reports emanating from England and Spain suggest Arteta could move to Goodison Park before the close of the transfer window on Monday.

The former Rangers star is believed to have underwent a medical at Everton and is set to arrive in England on Monday to tie up the loan switch.

Everton are in the market for a new midfielder having seen Thomas Gravesen leave for Real Madrid earlier this month.

Arteta only recently expressed his frustration at being dropped from the Sociedad side.

The classy midfielder has failed to establish himself in Spain since arriving in the summer from Rangers and could be keen on a move away for regular first team football.

Everton have also been linked with a move for Tottenham's Simon Davies, but it appears they have been priced out of a move for the Wales international.

I honestly thought he was still with rangers after numerous fall trus on moves to Atletico, either need to keep up with SPL or just stop reading about it fullstop.

Good player wouldnt be an ideal replacement for gravesen but going forward hes a decent player. Everton mostly win 1-0 and fight for the results, cant see silky skilled midfielder adding to that work ethic.

Interesting move alright. Can't honestly say whether I think he'd fit straight away in or not, but given time I reckon he'd be a good signing. If its only a loan deal he wouldn't get much time to settle though.

On an off-point, I reckon James McFadden has great things ahead of him. I remember seeing him against Bray last march and he scored 2 and made the other 2. He's a great prospect if they can get him fully fit and playing regularly.

Arteta could not handle the 'physical' game in Scotland and was too worried making sure his head band stayed on to be effective. Reasonable player but a bit light weight and tended to fade in games after the inevitable crunch tackle in midfield

the inevitable crunch tackle in midfield

Wonder how the Merseyside derby will compare to the Old Firm games in that respect.
