Legality of poker tournaments

    Anyone know a site that explains the legal issues involved in holding a poker tournament. There seems to be a plethora of tournaments being run all over the place and I am sure they are not all for charity. I am interested to know if you charge a registration fee and also give everyone who enters a membership card for 'xyz' poker tournament club, can you kepp the profit ?
    Or is it more complicated?

    poker.ie seems to think that is all you do.
