What's the odds of a farce again?
Would the U2.com members have priority here again?

Isn't it illegal to sell tickets for higher than face value?

    Unfortunately http://www.ticketmaster.ie/legal/purchase.html
    only says:
8 If this ticket is re-sold or transferred for profit or commercial gain by anyone other than the Promoter, Venue Management, Ticketmaster or one of their authorised sub-agents, it will become voidable and the holder may be refused entry to or ejected from the venue.

I'm so glad I'm not a fan, tough the computer-less brother-in-law asked me to try get tickets online (he got 2 tickets after overnight queuing in Cork).

And how likely is that to be enforced?

Zero, like so many laws in our country.
I emailed TicketMaster customer service to report the site, on the off chance that they might take an interest.

On the topic of fairness in ticket distribution, I know that English Permiership clubs often require ticket stubs for previous games to get forthcoming game tickets. Required stubs could be from away games in the previous season!
The use of stubs might be best used for GAA games e.g. require early round stubs for provincial and later games.
Not sure of a fair way to do this for gigs.

    ****ing Ticketmaster.
    Just heard the following story.
Girl rang ticketmaster and got through after a small number of calls.
Ticketmaster Operator "What can I do for you?"
Girl: I'd like 6 tickets to U2 please.
TO: "No problem, (issues the tickets)and then anything else I can do for you?"
Girl: "Well there is a guy beside me here who wants to get some tickets
Can I transfer him onto you?"
    TO: No problems!

8 people got 6 tickets each on the ONE phone call!

I was also an unfortunate one who got up early to order these online, and did not succeed.

What's worse is I hate U2 and was getting the tickets for a friend.

    Here's a good link;

tried online and phone.... complete and utter joke... both were jammed... website crashed big-stylee....

you'd think that they would have leased extra servers/capacity from their web hosting company to deal with the demand... but nooooo...

they'll take your rip-off booking fee and then provide a sh1t service.

I found this on their website, which i found very funny:
Ticketmaster is committed to delivering the highest level of service to our customers both online and offline.

Ticketmaster is the world's leading entertainment ticketing company, with more than 8000 clients worldwide, selling over 100 million tickets a year.

    Our Mission
For Clients: To provide the best systems, services, and tools for the optimal sale of tickets to the widest possible audience

    Ticketmaster Ireland
Ticketmaster is Ireland's leading ticketing company, with a proven track record in the computerised ticketing industry, offering clients a service which is backed up by extensive experience and the highest standards of professionalism.

all of the above is in fact a lie... their systems are crap and cant cater for load at peak times... what type of system is that???

I work with these type of systems everyday, and the ones that dont work when they need to are always the cheap-ass b@stards who wont pay the money for extra hardware/capacity etc...
They'll take your money from you alright, but they dont seem to want to invest it in their systems... but according to their mission statement they do????

Did anybody manage to buy tickets online?>?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,143 ✭✭✭flanzer

As a U2.com member I got tickets :D:D Best €30 I've ever spent! Secondly, a friend of mine lives on Clonliffe Rd. and received a letter from the Planning Authority saying there may be high levels of noise in the vicinity of Croke park on 24th, 25th and 26th June 2005. I'd say that's a sure bet there will be another concert

I have not heard from one person who managed to get one single ticket online, Ive had about 40+ emails from different people who tried all morning to get some, 60,000 were pre sold to U2.com, Id say most of them were Friday tickets on the pitch, thats why at about 8.15, pitch tickets were sold out......

God i hope sunday goes onsale soon. how would they let the public know? would they do another morning release or would they just sell them without saying anything?

    Sean.

(oooh... I wonder what it could be?)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,371 ✭✭✭acquiescefc

Yeah they are gonna let people walk their dogs around the pitch on sunday 26th instead of selling another 80,000 tickets @50 euro. plus booking fee of course.

I wish I had a calculator with enough digits to work it out.
