Yeah, that was a ****ing great gig, no mistake. Particularily impressed with Glen Drover and his Peace Sells ESP, ****ing top player. Gotta say I missed Menza and Ellefson but Drover had Friedman, Poland and Young's stuff nailed.

The Rust In Peace gig has yet to be topped though :D

pity about the security and also the two idiots that pasted Mustaine and the bassist in the face with.....tshirts of all things

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

One lass did lash up her bra, which kind of evens things out ;)

Edit -> and in fairness, I've never been to a gig where there wasn't at least one twat tried to **** things up for everyone. When I first saw Megadeth back in 1988 (christ I am old) the punks (proper punks not these gay Green Blink Charlotte pussies) showered the band with spit which was truly disgusting and every other band I saw after that up until Anthrax walked off mid set a year later.

Wow, what a gig - i'm still reeling from it.... :D

Great set-list, flawless musicianship - excellent gig!

But those steroid freak security morons were really out of order. I was ready to become a martyr and lead a charge of rabid metalheads screaming "kill the security", but the gig was so damn good i didnt want to end up outside :) (like a bunch of guys did).
I cant believe the security had the balls to mingle with the crowd and give everyone sh1t - and they got away with it - assholes

Anyways, fcuk them. Megadeth just slaughtered all in sight last night.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,655 ✭✭✭Ph3n0m

aye, I think the next time we are in the Ambassador we shall need to lead the charge - looking at the pit, there was just so many people wanting to tear it up and then steroid monkey bosy came in, aided by the mystical powers of people shining torches

and on top of that they deserved to get their asses beaten, even if only for those ridiculous giant headphones they were all wearing :D

That's like that guitarist dude (wearer of stupid headphones) from linkin park telling you "oy, mate, no moshing!".

Although many would consider it punishment enough for them to live their entire lives in a mental void, a trough of ignorance if you will, I can't stand these killjoy bastards sticking their noses in as soon as someone looks like they're starting to enjoy themself. It's pathetic that these hyper steroided primates enjoy taking their petty aggression out on kids 1/4 of their size.

**** it, everyone write a letter to MCD complaining about the attitude of security at the gig. If enough people do that, rather than just bitch about it here, maybe something will change?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,698 ✭✭✭garthv

mneh,i had no hassle from the security guards and even even saw one or two of them headbanging along:)
remeber lads, they are only there doing their jobs, not to ruin your gig :p

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,655 ✭✭✭Ph3n0m

Maybe but their excuse would be that secuity is there to prevent another "Smashing Punpkins" tragedy - now correct me if I am wrong, but wasnt the Punpkins gig over-sold?

Plus I have been to 100s of gigs and in the piut, if someone falls down, you help them back up, its part of the etiquette - if you cant handle the pit, you got out - I have neeed the aid of security when I have been in the pit and I sure as **** dont need their help now.

I don't think cheap shots into the backs of those going over the barrier is in their job description  I saw that more than once

cheap shots, well then I guess I also didnt see some poor sod getting pummeled as he was removed from the crowd and ejected from the area? saw the guy after the gig, his face was nicely swollen

They also threw out a girl who was hardly off her head but must have had a drink or two - they said "come back after you have some coffee".

Man, if a security guy told me that i'd tear him a new asshole on the spot.

Well what I witnessed last night first hand, I have decided to write to MCD - not only complaining about their security staff, but also those damn magical torches they use - they shine them at people and they stop dancing, its bloody brilliant ;) - ok but in all seriousness, I will be writing to MCD, just wonder how much of a response I will get from them

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

Probably none but if nobody contacts them directly nothing will ever be done about it. I'll be writing too, I've seen bouncers do some horrific things in my time for overexuberance but now they're actually stopping people from any sort of physical release at all, which is just plain wrong IMO. You've got to be able to jump around and get into it.

Ya, the security were ****in assholes... A group of us were startin circle pits and they kept comin' in and bein' really rough...

The small bald guy with the Slipknot "S" tattoo was nodded his head to the music when he came into stop the pits tho!

In all fairness, a group of us joined arms in a line and started headbangin', doin no harm to any1 and they came in and broke it up, i was like "WTF?"

Anyways, great fúckin' gig! Best i've been at! I was at the second row for the first 7 or 8 songs, literally about 10 feet away from Dave! Then i went back to the pits! Anyways, they tore the place in half... Glen and James were on top form and Shawn did a great job in filling Nick Menza's old duty. He had the same Drum set up as Menza! And what is there to be said about Dave? He's nothing less than a legend and I couldn't have asked more from him last night!

He looks about 10 years younger than he actually is too! I loved his new signature ESP V's, excellent.. Also, Glen's "Peace Sells" guitar ruled!

"3 years ago, I was in a doctors surgery, not for drugs, but for my arm... And the doctor said to me "Dave, you'll never play guitar again with the way your wrist is... **Mustaine shakes his hand in the air** Seems to be workin' fine now!" :D

    haha yeh that was great.
I couldnt help feeling that it was Dave Mustaine and band instead an Megadeth tho...

First off, it was an amazing gig :) I'm still speachless!!!

As for the bouncer. I was upstairs and the bouncer refused to allow me through to use the toilet!!! He could give me no logical reason for it and when I said I'll stand and wait his other strung out little skimp kunt of a bouncer eye balled me like as if I owe that kunt some respect!!! He can kiss my ring!!!

As for the security in there. There always like that. I've been to enough gigs there in the last few months. And there always the same! I seen them kicking the head off a kid one nite. I mean there is always some assholes in the crowd not saying there isn't. But these guys just seem hell bent on kicking ass when they get half a shot. Its totally uncalled for to be treated like that cuz they consider it a manner of a security. I'm a paying customer and to be denied to right to enjoy the gig and even use the toilet is rediculous!!! I don't know what the rest of the venues in town are like but the ambassador security are terrible!!!

I will be writing a letter to MCD aswell. I think we should can as many people as we can to do this who was at the gig to try and make a valid point of this!!

    It's been a great 3 days :)

Brilliant concert. Glen and Shawn are the coolest guys. Hopefully Dave keeps them on board if he needs a solo band for touring..

Great gig, was talkin to Mustaine on the phone afterwards. My mates got backstage and got autographs and handed the phone to him. He sounds like a cool guy even though he has a reputation for being a prick.

Great gig and I liked the setlist, the new stuff doesn't seem out of place with the old stuff at all. Pity about all of the pricks in the crowd pushing and shoving. Some of the crowd ended up on the floor because of all of the pushing. I can now understand why the security in the Ambassador are so strict.

Great great gig though. Holy Wars kicked ass yet again.

fantastic gig. diamond head were very enjoyable, megadeth nothing short of amazing.

the security were arrogant bastards. and what the hell was with "soft drinks only" upstairs - im bloody 25 and paid good money to go drink a few beers and watch some metal with my mates.

maybe someone (with a bit more time on their hands than i have) could draft an email that we could all send to mcd or the ambassador.

It was probably because of all of the children at the gig. They were all sent upstairs, well at least that is what was said outside.

I had a ticket for upstairs and walked straight into the downstairs area. You could have got a beer down there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,592 ✭✭✭Ancient1

I did the same. I got a ticket at the last second so it was a balcony one, but once i saw that they're not serving beer i sneaked downstairs past the gorillas.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 56 ✭✭Earwig Eddie

i did end up downstairs after getting the 3rd degree from 27 different bouncers. but the point is it was like a bloody police state.

not just the bar though - the physicalities were disgraceful. anyone read 1984?

though i didnt let it ruin a fantastic show...

Haha! i think I was right next to Dave when he phoned you. Was it your brother who asked him to talk to you? Asked him to wish you luck for some game tomorrow or something? And then you thought he was bull****ting you so he told you to "piss off then, and good luck tomorrow!"??

Could be wrong. Could be another guy.

  • Moderators, Regional North East Moderators Posts: 12,739 Mod ✭✭✭✭cournioni

Haha yeah, that was him alright. Wasn't my brother though it was my friends brother. We had him on loud speaker. Some girl was having her tit signed at the time... Or so I was told... ;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,975 ✭✭✭Oeneus

I don't recall any tit signing. Damn it!

Were you the guy Dave told to piss off on the phone? That was really funny :D. I didn't see any tits though :(

This could have been later/earlier on. I was just told a girl had her tit signed during the course of the night... :D

Only got home now. Great show. I didn't know any diamond head, not even the stuff metallica covered, but they were like a def leppard without the pussiness imo.

I cant believe a stand-in band with Dave could have played so well. Im still shocked at how tight sounding they were, and that the most violent pits were probably for sweating bullets!

But the bouncers were asses. A friend of mine said one of them caught the setlist, folded it up, said "ive worked my bollox off tonight" and stuffed it into his pocket. Thats not on.

Anyone notice how the intro of A Secret Place on cryptic writings sounds remarkably like Shadows And Dust by arch enemy? Tut tut Mr. and Mr. Amott
