Highbury Tunnel Incident

For those that maybe interested heres a film clip from the tunnel.

    http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=Un-edited%20Tunnel

Any thoughts on the thing, was it just Viera trying to wind up united or was it genuine frustration from Neville kicking the living day lights out of Reyes in OT? (No rose tinted glasses on this one, he did kick the crap out of him).
He got to Keane anyways, who infairness completely kept his cool during the game and played a stormer.
Rooney really could learn a thing or two from Keane.

Keane used his football talent on the pitch to do the talking.

See the look from Neville!! I'd say what Keane says was true!! but at least he let his football do the talking from then on and ran the midfield!!

Ireland v France should be fun. :) That just might have given us a big advantage, if Vieira was intimidate in Highbury, how will he feel in Dublin?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,625 ✭✭✭✭BaZmO*

Roy Carroll, Paul Scholes and Wayne Rooney didn't shake Viera's hand as he went past. I remember at the time seeing it but it happened so fast that I couldn't make out who it was.

just goes to show how unfrofessional arsenal and utd are really.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,894 ✭✭✭SteM

This video is obviously fake and was created by Moanchester United to discredit one of the most upstanding players the game has ever had. It never happened.

i agree, they are very unfrofessional. professional to the last though.

Obviously this has come from the manager AKA Arsene Wenger right through to his captain and players. Vieira lost the rag. Look how intimidated and worked up he is at the beginning. Wenger completely lost it too when he outraged he "would never talk about Ferguson again".

Apparantly the row started because United didn't wear the anti-racism tops that Nike had provided for both teams. United did have an anti-racism logo on their jersey's though so I don't know how true it is.

It's funny cos you made a spelling mistake. I get it.

I'd say United made a conscious decision not to wear the tracksuit in an effort to p!ss off some of the Arsenal players (surprised Rio went along with it). However, I do not believe it had anything whatsoever to do with the tunnel incident.

IMO Vieria had a go at Neville for the very same reason that Keane had a go at Vieira. He thought Neville had gone for an easy target last time out (i.e. Reyes) and he was letting him know he wouldnt get away with it this time.

Its all much ado about nothing really.
Another reason to intensely dislike Vieira. At least he didnt spit this time. Cheers for the vid Grim!

I dislike Vieria because he's supposed to be a hard man yet dives to the ground anytime anyone goes near him. Woos. But I didnt see anything in the vid to make me dislike him any more.

:D Thats funny. Keane is clearly the most worked up player on the vid. Its he who lost the rag!

A funny bit was Cygan trying to stare down Keane when Keane was on his rant. Unfortunately Roy didnt notice!

A bit childish of Scholes and Carroll re the handshakes. But in fairness Neville was great. Grabbed Vieria's hand and wouldnt let go till he got eye contact. Hardly intimidated, so I think Roy's reaction was a tad unwarranted. Or maybe Neville was so cocky because he was thinking "touch me even once Paddy, and Keano will kill yah!"

United were wearing those anti racism tops in the warm up as far as i can remember anyway.

It looks to me that Scholes put his hand out to shake Vieira's, it was just a late reaction as he had passed to players without shaking theirs so Scholes didn't know what to do. :)

I'd say that's more than likely what happened. Although I wouldn't say that Viera thought that Neville was an easy target, more like he was just pointing out that he wouldn't get away with the tackles on Reyes or any of the younger Arsenal squad this time.

Anybody else get the clip by email a billion times already? :D

Nice one, I'll have to wait til I get home.

Can you hear everything Keano is saying?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,147 ✭✭✭Ronan|Raven

You do indeed, along the lines of "I'll see ya out there ya c unt Im sick of him every week, pretending to be the nice guy, teach him to shut his forking mouth and a few more swear words in there then something about picking on one of the twister sisters Neville is picking on one of us"

    Bunch of women!

sound is awful low on the clip.

Bunch of bleeding girls, the lot of them. Gary Neville comes the worst out of it though, hiding behind big bad Royston.

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 6,525 Mod ✭✭✭✭sharkman

Roy Carroll only had his hands behind his back untill Vierra passed him , he did shake the next palyer hand . I think Roy had a few too many lines with Rio in the dressing room and lost the run of himself .

Bad display with kids present and all .

I love the way Almunia was afraid to look at Keane. :D

He kept looking at him out of the corner of his eye. Funny!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 302 ✭✭Grimlock

If ya look at the clip neither scholes, carroll or shrek shake hands with the mascot either, Keane is the only one to shake hands with the mascot and not Viera.
I'd hope the other 3 were just not paying attention, like scholes seems to have been cos he raises his hand, just too late, because it'd be wrong to show any anger felt towards Viera on the kid.

    my 2 cents

As for the match itself, great game to watch for a neutral or utd supporter, I think arsenal were good for a penalty and the off side against Bergkamp. Silvestre's headbutt was the stupidest thing i've ever seen, at least when Bergkamp and Hienze flung their elbows they did not do it infront of the ref, not that i'm condoning elbowing, both players where at fault that nite but Silvestre........

You can't help (although many others will no doubt say otherwise) but admire the guys leadership qualities. Ferguson has based a team around him for ten or so years now, and you can see the success he's had.

Hope he gives Vieira a stuffing at Landsdowne!!!

    Indeed.

I wouldn't bet against it on Keano's recent form. Would be great to see! :D

But unfortunately Pires hasnt been included in the latest French squad, it'd be a shame not to have his diving antics in Dublin.

    what a bunch of handbags.

keane lost control of himself, for someone of his age you think he would have a bit of cop on.

well out of order from carrol, scholes and rooney not shaking hands.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,548 ✭✭✭Draupnir

have you ever played football Chucky? even someone who has only played Junior football must know what its like to defend a team mate if someone from an opposing team is giving them grief.

add that to being a professional captain and its your duty to defend your team mates and thats what keane did. he never once lost control,he put vieira in his place and simply told him he would sort it on the pitch. and thats what he did.

yes i have played football, i never had a big blouse on my team like neville though. if someone gave abuse, they gave it straight back and didnt need the captain to sort it out.

Neville hardly asked Keane for a hand. :)

I dunno whether Gary neville could be called a blouse really, considering he obviously upset Reyes a bit. All things being equal, Gary Neville is as good a right full as you can find in the game. He just isnt exactly mr personality. Good player though, you dont hold a position at united and england for so many years if youre crap.

regarding the incident, Id imagine since it was arsenals captain having a go at one of his players, Roy Kean simply saw it as his duty to defend him. nothin wrong there in my opinion.

    Eirebhoy game?

On every team there someone like that, ours was always 1st sent off, great player tho shame only ever played 60 minutes for us :(

upsetting reyes? hardly takes a vinny jones to do that.

Vieira probly did say to Neville that he wasn't gonna get away with anything this time. How was Viera intimidated at all? Keane over-reacted big time with abusive language with kids around. Neville was nowhere to be seen wen Keane went pyscho.

Chilidish by Carrol and ronney (i despise his attitude).

And more importantly KDJAC, if there was a ref there to send the guys off, why did he not abandon the match after one of the teams had less than 7 men on the pitch. Me smells a rat.

The one difference gentlemen between this game and a game of junior footy down the park on a Sunday is the people involved on both sides earn more a week than most people do for a year. They are professional and they should behave in a professional manner.

Then again the FA is not taking action so what happened was probably no more than a bit of verbal. Still it was extremely unsuitable behaviour by both Captains who are role models for alot of Children. (by the way did Sky broadcast the incident in the tunnel live without the bleeps?).
