given that eircom has only recently has its 100,000th customer on their dsl product, including resells by other networks, is smart being a little bit over optimistic offering its first 100,000 phone+broadband customers free line rental for life? just a thought..

This is a very very valid thought.

But as I have described in my posting in another thread (http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=2352671&postcount=42). The faster Smart gets these 100,000 orders the faster they get their fingers on EUR 20 million. So delivery is probably of secondary importance, the orders are needed as fast as possible.

With an EUR 8.1 million loss in 2004 (as announced yesterday: http://www.enn.ie/news.html?code=9586122), you can imagine that EUR 20 million would be very welcome.

Does it maybe seem that the announcement about the Broadband offer has been made JUST ahead of the earnings announcement to buffer the bad news??
