Where can I get Renter's Insurance?

    You need to make sure your insurance balances with the landlords insurance.

    Thanks for the quick reply. This may sound like a stupid question, but what do you mean by "balances"?

    You need buildings, contents, public liability, etc.

    You need it all, but needn't pay twice.

    Ok. So first I should inquire as to what sort of insurance the landlord has on the place. Would it be reasonable to assume that he will not be paying insurance on the house contents?

    (Sorry again if this sounds remedial - I really have no clue about any of this stuff)

    He might have it insured, he probably has his contents insured, not yours, but it would probably be difficult for you to claim from his insurance.
