Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Over the past few days I've put together this 60 minute mix. I did this entirely on the PC, using not the best software (Cool Edit Pro 2.0 and a combination of MixMeister BPM Analyzer and WinBPM for getting the BPMs).

It's the first mix of any kind that I've ever done so there's lots of room for improvement I'm sure. I don't own or know how to use decks or CDJ's although I'd like to learn sometime.

Included in the mix is some electro (Miss Kittin, Roman Flugel, Alter Ego...), some Soulwax/Daft Punk style stuff and two or three dancey rock tracks (LCD Soundsystem, The Bravery...).

The full tracklist is available on request by PM.

Heavily influenced by Soulwax. It gets a bit cheesy in places (especially when "Fannypack - Cameltoe" comes in :D ), not intended to be taken too seriously. :)

Anyway, I'd appreciate any comments or "constructive criticism" on it, if you do take the time to download it.

    Download (66.9MB)

I dont think it's legal download these songs, more than likely they have been copywrited??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,335 ✭✭✭radiospan

I'll take it down for a sec.

I've seen others posting mixes with no problems? Maybe someone could clear this up? It seems like a bit of a grey area.

yeah.. Thats what I was thinking, I think for it to qualify as not breaching the copywrite it has to be changed to a certain degree?? I'm not sure either 100%

having gone after pretty much every track you've mentioned on various boards , and the **** you have on audioscrobbler, looking at the tracklist, i want to hear this.
    have you got irc?
nobody else seems to have any qualms about copyright!
also, have you heard of native instruments traktor? makes mixing on the pc point and click easy.

Thanks for your interest! I'll put the link back in a few hours unless anyone has a complaint. DJ's post their mixes legally very frequently here and on other sites (Soundhog, 110th Street, Essential Mixes...)

Ya, Traktor and Acid Pro 5 are the next softwares that I want to try out. Cool Edit Pro is very old at this stage, and I don't think even it's successor, Adobe Audition, is thought of too highly.

Stick it back up there Plazz, quick smart pls!

there wont be any legal problems, once the tracks are mixed. No dj is ever going to complain if his music is in a mixed cd once it has been released. Its basically free advertisement for a producers tune so is galdly appreciated.

So you will be fine sticking it up.

Ok the link is back. I'll have to watch the bandwidth on this, so it might be down in a few days...

The mixing in the first few tracks sounds grand I think, but it gets kinda messy later on trying to mix in the rock stuff.

Do you have any tracks that are sub 20meg. Damn they would kill me in here for downloading 66meg files, and if they found out it was music, wah, i dont want to even think about that.

Let me know if that doesn't work, I have a yousendit link to it just in case.

  • Registered Users Posts: 202 ✭✭bribren2001

    ye downloaded fine, cheers mate
    will have a listen asap.

    like it a lot
i think anyone who mixes rock tracks in like that uses a hell of a lot of effects and madness to get themselves out of mixing a drummer and a drum machine.

you could put a link to anything you want up here and boards are not liable...they are not storing the file, they provide a website and dont have to take responsibility for what its used for...

http://www.piratebay.org and go to the legal threats in the top right of the screen...i know its far away in sweden but read their response to Dreamworks

long shot, but this still online anywhere?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,339 ✭✭✭✭tman

i still have the two older ones knocking about on my hd...
could send them to you via gmail if plazzTT is bandwidth impaired

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,335 ✭✭✭radiospan

Thanks tman, although I can get a link up tomorrow.

Gmail would be too complicated (limited to 10MB attachments I think), I'll upload them tomorrow from college.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,339 ✭✭✭✭tman

    fair enough
handiest way to send large files via gmail is to use winrar to pack and split the file. you can even create a self extracting file, so the person you're sending to doesn't need to install winrar.

i'll leave it to you anyway.
enjoying the latest mix. keep it up man:)
