Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

maybe a form of that M$ 8|4$¬3R (MS Blaster)

You'll need to reformat, then run down to ur local pc shop and buy some anti-virus software.

task manager will still work, check what processes are going on

yeah it could be blaster, but a format may not be entirerly needed

Sounds like blaster worm alrite. Get patch from MS site. Removal tools can be got from the likes of symantec.com etc. Service Pack 2 will also sort this.

    Tip:
When the shutdown message appears, goto start/run and type "shutdown /a" to get rid of it. Give you time to get patches downloaded etc.

    Have a look here

IF you do format, patch system before you reconnect to web again or you'll be back to squre one.

To turn off the shut down quickly open up a command prompt box and type shutdown.exe -a

That'll abort the shutdown in progress. Hope this helps.

If you buy norton AV 2005 it runs a preinstall scan before installing. If its a worm It'll remove it. If it doesn't disrupt the install all you'd have to do is install the AV and then run liveupdate. After that run a Virus scan and it should either delete or quarentine the worm screwing up your lappy. Hope this helps.

Put the original Windows CD into the drive, and select full format and install.

Yeah, but this time make sure to install a properly up to date firewall, VS, and Ad/Spyware scanner to catch most problems before they do anything.

Put the CD in the drive then turn on the Lappy. It should come up instead of the windows boot screen, a message saying "press any key to boot from CD". Most windows OS CAN BE BOOTED DIRECTLY FROM THE CD.
