Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What was Camara doing playing for Ronaldinho's team anyway? The bastad couldn't do it for us (in Europe).

Final score: Ronaldinho XI 6-3 Shevchenko XI
    Samuel Eto'o 14
    Ronaldinho 19
    Samuel Eto'o 45
    Henri Camara 60
    Henri Camara 64
    Cha Du-Ri 80

    Alessandro Del Piero 26
    Gianfranco Zola 50
    David Suazo 54

Maybe its because you kept lumping long balls up to him via Hartson/Sutton. Rather than playing real football. :p

For me Camara was never fit while playing for Celtic , but maybe if mercenary man had stayed Bellamy would have never joined the club .

that was some game, fabulous skill, where the hell did Camara grow that skill!!!
Some cracking touches and moves, Zolas was a lovely finish.

Fair play to RTE 2 for showing it

Funniest bit was when Zidane had the ball next to Dida, and was unsure what to do with it. Outta nowhere,Dida just jumped in the air with his arms flailing and zidane hadnt even moved his foot at all! :D I laughed.

Some nice goals and the stars got to show off their tricks. Not a big crowd. I wonder why no Irish players were involved.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,117 ✭✭✭✭MrJoeSoap

The only big Irish players (in a global sense) are Duff and Roy Keane (arguably Robbie as well I suppose) and I doubt Mourinho and Ferguson would have allowed them fly over to Spain for it. Pity tho.

Do you have written consent from GipsyMedia Ltd ? :D

Reminds me of the time Peter tried to tape American Football in Family Guy!

Imagine if FIFA had their way all football would be ghey like that and no tackles :D
Nice to see lots of skill but without tackling its just pointless.

It already exists, its called continental football. :)

But seriously did you hear martin Jol at the England Holland game? he was cringing at the tackling and calling them legbreakers. Redknapp, Lineaker and Hansen saw no problem with the tackles, Gerards in particular was a hard ball winning tackle. The foreingers are just soft.

or maybe they just see football for what it is? A sport of skill, where you try to out play the other team by your skill with the football. Rather than the english game, where the idea seems more to break the other man's legs, or elbow them in the face while jumping up with them for the ball, etc etc.

Players are allowed to get away with far too much in the english game. I'd take "continental football" over sanctioned hooliganism any day.

Football has always been a physical game. This isnt basketball we're talking about here. Tackling is as much a part of the game as anything else, anyone who plays the game knows that all aspects are part and parcel of the game and are important parts. The fact of the matter is that continental players have introduced diving into the game. IMO this is a dishonest and sneaky pat of the game thats far worse than a few over zealous players diving in to tackles. Generally players dont deliberatley go out o injure others, but in a split second anyone is capable of snapping and diving in.

ANd btw, hard tackling is not "sanctioned hooliganism". God help some of you if you had played 30 years ago.

tackling is a skill aswell, a very hard skill aswell. You might like your ronaldo-esqu step overs etc. i prefer seeing players going in with a good solid tackle and winning the ball back.

Ehh continental football is the same just slower , players have more time on the ball but they still get tackled hard, just in the PL the tackle is faster :)
