haha, your having a laugh aren't ya? You'll know when they know cos I'll disapeer off the face of the earth, i.e no internet connection, no where to live, etc, etc...heehee.

Sound just like mine. You should get a full body suit done without them seeing then go away on holiday. come back "so what did you do on holidys", "I got a tattoo" and then remove top. bonus points if you film it. also log inot msn if you got time.

Good luck with the German Orals! Do you think you'll pass the point of no return some day and get a tattoo thats visible all the time and risk bosses not giving you jobs? Im of the belief that if its fits under a business suit , then your options are still open. As a teacher, Im supposed to be conservative.. but in reality Im not. Im a wannabe rebel with no guts lol

Ive no tattoos but I really wish I had the guts to get one.

The way you mention under a business suit resembles the traditional style of japanese tattooing where these guy's spends years getting full body tattoos done but never display them, which is in direct contrast to the western one point style of where the point is to show it off as much as possible even more so of late where you see more people getting hands, neck and face work done. But personally i like the way i'm not visibly modified and do it only for myself. I think there is room in a conservative outer appearance to be modified and not let it affect people's opinions of you. I've been thinking for ages about tattoos on my lower legs. Only time they'd really be visible is when I go rock climbing in shorts or something. Or when I'm changing at the side of the road on caving weekends...

0_o porn_star, you're only doing your leaving cert?! Fisking hell, I'd have never had the guts to do something like that whilst still living at home and being in school, I've only gotten visible piercings in the last year since I moved out.

Um, I honestly can't say whether I'll 'pass the point of no return' or not. It's not that I dont' like clearly visible tattoos or anything, I just have no plans for any that are so extent that it might risk me being hired in the future and I think I'd wait til I'm a lot older before I'd make such a life altering decision. But I'll never rule anything out. I like that the tattoos I have are there and can only be shown if I want them to be. I'm not really one of those people who go around showing work off to the general public trying to impress anybody, so I like the personal side of it. But it would depend on what job I have in the future anyway, which god only knows what that will be. But I don't think my present tattoo will have an impact on my career no, I have no idea about future ones.

Heh...I'm only seventeen, definitely a young 'un been getting pierced since I was twelve also, although I'm nowhere near your number (I've got 11). I never would have been able to get unusual visible piercings in secondary school though, as I went to a convent school, so I guess that adds to it. My parents would not have been happy if I did either - their mantra was "once you're independent, you can do what you want".

argh, my parents are like that too. but besides living in there house, I'm dependant enough anyway and fund my own ways, but saying that they still hate them and it still causes arguements.I went to a convent school too, but eh, I got around it somehow, I don't know..perserverance, pfft...I think they just got sick of me and gave up.oh well.

I was wondering, and dont think its worth starting a thread over, and this is fairly active thread with nice people, so I'm asking here. Whats the expectancy of a pericing? I've had my tougne done over a year, and I'd say it's been out a total of 30minutes altogether since the start...

Jesjes, it depends entirely on the piercing (and also somewhat on the individual person). Do you mean how long will you be able to leave it out for before it closes up?

Some people find they can leave it quite a lot longer, but in general the tongue closes up fairly fast; within a matter of hours for some, days for others.

Like something like your tongue will stay in for as long as you choose it to.. Like what was said above, it's different for everyone. If you choose to take it out, it could close up in a very short while, or it may last days...and even then you still might be able to put it back in. It depends on the person.
With other piercings, its much the same if you take them out. although sometimes they dont close up at all. some piercings reject.some don't. It's all in a person's body really.

Yeah, thanks, I know the above. I just meant in terms of what is the general concensus on how long they last. Such as lip bars like Wilburts lasted two years and had to go because of damage. Is there an expected time that they would come out, or get changed. Or is it just literally as long as you want...?

pretty much as long as you want, with regards to tongue piercings anyway. Unless they're causing you discomfort or anything, they cant do too muchdamage, unless you click in repeatedly off your teeth like and eejit. Some piercings might need to be taken out, like with labrets cos of gum recession, but then other people dont get that at all. It depends on the body and on the piercing in question.

pretty much what porn star said. I've had my tongue peirced for almost seven years now and have kept the bar as short as possible to minimise gum/tooth damage for most of that time. also can leave it out for about a week (at least) without the hole closing up. That said, my ears close up in about a fortnight even though they've been peirced for over 13 years!
