Oh yes, so very, very bad indeed. I actually bought Risk last week, again, the re-master this time, just to see if there was a good song on it after all.

Turns out there still isn't. It sucketh.

Load, well, I still remember listening to that tripe on the bus home the day it came out, repeatedly taking the inlay out to check the lyrics, so sure was I that the gick I was hearing couldn't be them.

Still, until my children get me lobotomised and put in a home, I'll always have my memories of Metallica on the AJFA tour and Megadeth on SFSGSW, Rust In Peace and even the Countdown To Extenction (supported by Pantera) gigs :D

    Old people rock :p

Risk is great, it just isn't a metal album.

Nah, I approached it from many angles, each sucked as much as the other. The only redeeming feature is the cat in the pictures.

I think a friend of mine summed Risk perfectly - he bought it, listened to it once, without skipping.

SIlently he got up, walked over, ejected the CD and hurled it at the wall, where it shattered - then we went out drinking.....what a nice story :)

LOL, reminds me of a review of Van Halen III (the one with the guy from Extreme singing on it) which went simply

"Worth buying just so you can turn it off"

Listen to 'Hit The Lights', then listen to 'Set The Stage Alight' by a band called Weapon (which Lars conveniently put on his NWOBHM best of CD in the late 80's) ;)
On that subject, wasn't there a song very very similar to Metallica's "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)", which was released in the late 70's. I had the mp3 downloaded but I can't find it anywhere...

This is a good website that tells you the meaning of nearly all good metallica songs and what song may have"inspired" them

Metallica is just Hetfield karaoking what should be Megadeth's songs. Simple as.

    What should be Megadeths songs?

Are you suggesting that Metallica stole Mustaines ideas and put them on paper before he had the chance to?

    That's priceless.

Senor Dong, look into the histories of the songs The Mechanix and The Four Horsemen. You will find the answers you seek.

Cliff Burton is my idol and all, but tis definitely Megadeth for me. Youthanasia was one of the first CD's i ever got my hands on that I still love today. The bass intro to 'Peace Sells...' made me want to pick up a bass in the first place...and I love Dave's voice, heh. All of their stuff is excellent, well, 'cept Risk. Yup. 'Deth pour moi.

Megadeth all the way. They have better songs, better musicians (marty friedman is a legend). theyre not horribly commercial anymore, plus they are genuinely nice guys. (i know form meeting after the show in the ambassador)

In fairness lad, get your head out of Lars' arse. It is a fact that Metallica ripped off that song.

I believe you will find Dave Mustaine wrote that entire song and after he was booted asked them not to use it. So jaymz and lars being such nice guys slowed it down and used it anyway.

    Megadeth rippes off Metallica.

That's why Metallica had to change their sound, because Megadeth stole their original one.

Why would Megadeth, a group of uniquely talented musicians, feel the need to rip off people like Metallica, who are so technically inferior it could make my head bleed. Metallica never "had to" change their sound. It evolved, like all bands. Listen to Kill 'Em All, Master of Puppets, Load and Reload and St. Anger. They're all very different. You can't possibly claim that Megadeth were covertly stealing their sound the whole way along the line. Megadeth were ripped off by Metallica. Mustaine was the driving force behind the way Kill 'Em All *actually* should have sounded, if Metallica hadn't been forced to change it for legal reasons.

But you all seem to think that this is what Metallica did.

So you're agreeing that Mustaines influence was taken out of Kill'em All?

That is because Metallica did steal Mustaine's music.

No, it was slightly changed to avoid a lawsuit. Which was sweet FA. Just like "Under Pressure" by Queen/Bowie and "Ice Ice Baby" by Vanilla Ice.

Metallica only stole Megadeth's stuff for a few albums, until they'd run out of Mustaine's material. After that they did their own thing, and went downhill like a bowling ball. And by no means did I say Mustaine's influence was taken out of Kill 'Em All. How could it when he practically wrote the freakin' thing?! It was changed just enough to avoid a lawsuit. Fact.
