Slow bb connection through wirless router

Recently I have just set up a wirless bb router (linksys wrt54g) to connect my laptop to the internet from my bedroom. The only problem is my connection is slow it takes ages to dl anything im talkin about maybe a rate of 1 or 2 kbs there is a second computer on the router using the built in switch and its fine. Any Ideas

you probably have some settings mixed up.
Try changing the tx/rx rate, the channel, the parity (if you can change it) , whether it is 5.5mbps/11/54 mbps etc. Play round with it. Also try setting the speed to a fixed value (try 2mbit) if your signal is low or variable
