Jupiter looks splendid this morning - to someone seeing her bands for the first time!

P.S. This astronomy business is Bl**dy cold, I'm warming my hands with a cup of tea, before going back to bed to give the 'good lady' a bit of a shock :)

Yep, Jupiter is coming back into favourable view for night time observers too. Its high enough after 11pm now to see it. Check out the different positions of the 4 Galilean moons night to night.

It is a wonderful sight. Seeing Saturn's rings probably outdoes it, but it is still great to see. It is becoming more favourable for viewing now too, which is good, while Saturn is past its best, though still good.
