    Balance Carried Forward: 100pts

    Selections for Tuesday 14th
2.10 Uttoxeter Bad Boy 10pts WIN, Little Willy 5pts EW [Bad Boy WON, Little Willy 2nd]
3.50 Southwell Bunny Boiler 3pts WIN [LOST]

    Old Balance: 77pts

    Bab Boy 10pts @ 3/1 = 30 + 10 = 40pts
    Little Willy placed 5pts @ 20/1 (1/4) = 25 + 5 = 30pts

    New Balance = 77 + 40 + 30 = 147pts

25 comes from 20/1 divided by 4 multiplied by the stake of 5pts.

When a horse is placed bookmakers usually pay either 1/4 or 1/5 the odds for the place. Therefore if the place is 1/4 the odds and a horse is 20/1 the place will pay 5/1 (20/4). To get the final return you multipy the odds (5/1) by the stake 5 pts to get 25.
