Has anyone ever travelled to OZ for the 12 month working visa on a one-way ticket and not had the required A$5000 funds? Will immigration in OZ say anything? will they even let me on the flight?

Im hoping to get a oneway ticket to cairns i have about A$1600, i dont plan on returning to ireland within a year so theres no point getting a Round the world ticket coz i want to save up while over there and hop all round the world at my own pace?

    Cheers

No experience of it, but methinks if its required then they'll say something. Most unlikely you'll be denied the right to fly, but you might be sent packing as soon as you arrive.

I went in 2001 on a one way ticket. I had the funds in my bank account in Ireland but i was never asked about it at immigration and they never mentioned that my ticket was just one way.

We went on one way ticket to Melbourne in 2003 - no problems at all - wasn't even asked any questions about return flights etc.......
