Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi

I got a call from an esatBT guy the other day saying my connection was attacking other computers. He did not have any details when I was talking to him and he said he woud call me back (he has never called). I have run XoftSpy and Webroot and got rid of what came up but I am still nervious. I have an up to date Norton Anti Virus software.

    Any Advice.

    Thanks.

Does not seem likely that esat would ring you. I would not talk to him if he calls back without getting his details and ringing esat and asking for him.
What exactly did he say? IF your connection was causing a serious threat they would just kill the connection.

Format and Reinstall, make sure your firewall is on, download AVG and Microsoft AntiSpyware, and when looking at porn websites, do not accept any scripts etc...

an unpatched PC on broadband will be probed on average within 16 minutes of connecting - so put a firewall on before you connect to the internet , if you don't have XP SP2 then you will need to get zone alarm etc downloaded somewhere else first, otherwise you could be compromised before you can patch.

there is no reason in the world to reinstall

it only takes 1/2 hour, and you'r sure you got everything, quicker than pissing about with those virus search tools

indeed - then you have to reinstall your software - If you have the installer
If you use the right search tools then there is no pissing about, a 5minute search, and patch update will fix everything

Thanks for the advice, I will wait to see if I am still in trouble after all my scans, as a reinstall seems a bit drastic for the moment.
