Help with Cordless phone

BT Freestyle 2010 (Siemens) Digital Cordless Phone.

The phone will work when plugged into main box in the hall. It won't work on any extensions from this box. There are only two wires brought from the box in the hall to the extension - could this be the problem? Although I have tried another cordless phone on this extension and it works OK.

Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

No. Two wire is all we use now, phones are "internally decoupled" which means no bell loop.

Try plug a phone (any) into the master box (the main socket) and then the cordless into the extension.

Failing that check the wiring. The two centre pins of the socket should be wired AND NO OTHERS (improperly wired 3 pin systems can cause problems).
