Im working on an online shop, and I'm trying to decide on:

    1) Design the site at 800 fixedwidth (for the helluva lot of people that still browse at 800*600)

    2) Design the site for those of us (inc me) on 1024 but to be workable without horiztonal scrolling at 800 (just wont look at nice)

    3) **** the 800*600 people and go all out 1024*768 goodness.

What are peoples experience in this area? One thing that I might consider is sticking to fixed 800 width, and the reason for this is that I'm using osCommerce, and it would seem to be to be a good idea to keep the left and right categorys closer together to make the page easy to scan, rathar than a larger gap of content in the middle section.
