Sam has nowhere to hide now. I'll not tell him ye have access to the one recent photo I managed to take of him!

It's a bit scary how much info you can find out about anyone using the net. I write for the local paper and a lot of my details are readily available to anyone

  • Registered Users Posts: 389 ✭✭Ba_barbaraAnne

I wouldn't call Sam sweet at his age! The little ones are kinda cute though.

Nope. The line is "Father, Son and Fergal Close. I think SOMEONE tried to change it to "Colm, Willie, Fergal Close" Twas about as succesful as his raven idea though...

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

    That really bombed...

  • Registered Users Posts: 748 ✭✭✭Zounds

did that every actually get beyond the idea stage?, did anyone actually say it?
also: my first year it was "Willie, Seán and Fergal Close"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,880 ✭✭✭Raphael

Odd. I remember it being father son and fergal close from 01 through to fergal leaving

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 466 ✭✭Caoimhe

Yeah, its always been "the father, son and Fergal Close" for me too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

NNo.... wrong! the right one was "father son and feargal close"

p.s. will people start spelling Feargal properly? You can't spell Feargal without FEAR after all! :D

Does it really matter? I can see the dj stopping the disco now, ''wait up a sec, hold the phone, did i hear someone say HOLY GHOST?!?!?!''

It could happen... Lol all i was saying was that those were the original (and thus, by definition best) lyric-edits. In fact, from the same era as [caps]DIEDIEDIEDIELIVELIVELIVELIVESEXSEXSEXSEXMOREMOREMOREMORE[/caps]...

I'll never forget my very first CTYI ever, I was a commuter and my dad was meant to pick me up after the last disco. He arrived early and heard that from all the way across the parking lot. Lot of explaining for a 12 year old to do with a father as strict as mine...

anyone know where the chant comes from?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 975 ✭✭✭Plunky

Well, the MOREMOREMOREMORE bit probably has its roots in Rocky Horror *refers people to Touch-a, Touch-a, Touch Me...*

  • Registered Users Posts: 748 ✭✭✭Zounds

yah i noticed the similarity there myself, though i'd say the whole chant probably came about as one thing, do the CTYs do it?

    i was feeling done in
    couldnt win
i'd only ever kissed before.....(you mean she: uhuhuh)
i thought theres no use getting
    into heavy petting
it only leads to trouble...and seat wetting

now all i want to know
    is how to go
i've tasted blood and i want more (more more more more)
    i'll put up no resistance
i want to stay the distance
i've got an itch to scratch
    i need assistance

been listening to that song again recently :)

yes, yes they do, that's where it comes from.
at the first ever CTY disco it was played as the last song (it was in the charts at the time) and it became a tradition, or so the story goes

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 975 ✭✭✭Plunky

Ummm, it was in the charts in 1972... CTYI was 10 last year, or the year before - go figure... *puzzled*

Yes Neil, that be the song..

  • Registered Users Posts: 748 ✭✭✭Zounds

    CTY is over 30yrs old

    really, my bad, sorry

edit: quick google for "DIE-DIE-DIE-DIE-LIVE-LIVE-LIVE-LIVE-SEX-SEX-SEX-SEX-MORE-MORE-MORE-MORE!" reveals that yes, the yanks do chant that and also that CTY has far more student websites than CTYI

I imagine it also turned up some creepy pr0n...

  • Registered Users Posts: 748 ✭✭✭Zounds
