Ok, this is the scenario .........

You have just won a lot of money and have decided to spend €100,000 on a collection of classic cars - what would you buy ???

(P.S.- You can spend all the money on one car - or a collection of cars)

    Volvo 1800ES
    Volvo 1800S
    Volvo Amazon GT
    Aston Martin DB5
Triumph Herald convertible in powder blue
    Bullit-style Mustang fastback ('67/'68?)
    Heinkel/Messerschmitt bubble car
    Original Fiat Multipla
    MG Magnette
    Datsun 240Z
A '40s/'50s Scammell tractor unit to intimidate Hummer owners. There's macho, and then there's MACHO ;)
    Scammell-Constructor.jpg

Have I used up my budget yet? The juice for the Scammell would eat into the fund pretty quickly.

I agree with these - but it would have to be the Irish built Heinkel. Did you know that for about 5 years, Heinkel was owned by the Irish government and about 6000 were made in Dundalk? This makes them our largest indigenous Irish car manufacturer (in the republic anyway)

    Fiat 500 Giardiniera
pre '61 Citroën DS, preferably with the grilles in the front wings
Late Citroën Dyane or very early 2CV
Citroën GS Birotor or Ami super (both rotary, both hydraulically sprung)
    Jaguar Mk II 3.8
    Porsche 912
    Alfa Spider (boat-tailed)
    Lancia Fulvia HF
'73 Mercury Grand Marquis Wagon - preferably in Pea green with a lot of wood. Nothing does kitsch better than a woody.
    Early Chevrolet Corvair

If I had a (much) bigger budget:
    '58 Chapron Citroën DS Décapotable
    '68 Lamborghini Miura S
    Tatra T77/77a/87
    '53 Bentley Continental Type R

Hmm - I'd prefer classics myself. Don't get me wrong, the Sierra will be a classic for sure some day but it's a little bit Chessex at the moment.

The Testarossa? Hardly the prettiest/fastest/nimblest/rarest Ferrari. And unfortunate "80s futures trader" image. How about a 288 GTO for the ultimate 80s Ferrari? Mind you you'd need a lot more than 100k for one of them.

    €100,000?

I think I'd put a downpayment on a Ferrari Daytona Spider and start busking for the rest... ;)

    Early '70's 911 Targa
    Lotus Esprit S1 / S2
    Lotus Elise 111S
    Morgan Aero 8

Those alone would bust €100,000 but you'd get em for £100,000 and probably have change for a nice 2 door Range Rover and maybe a Norton or BMW R65 or something

    DS20,
An f40 would have been top, but the only one I would get with 100,000 is the tr, i picked the sierra cos it was made in 83/84, and as such I reckon it is a classic, sure an 84 911 carrera is a classic. Tbh I couldnt think of a decent car to fill the 20,000 that would be left. I have a 911, so no point picking that, maybe a delorean....or a bmw 635csi sharknose.

This fictitious 100k .........would that be a small or large percentage of my winnings ? Ya see I could tend to get flamboyant and start justifying all kinds of things to myself. Although I reckon if I won a couple of million I'd still only spend up to 10 percent of it on cars.......anyway here's my little list.

    1969 Mercedes 280SE 3.5 Coupe W111
    1959 Cadillac Coupe De Ville
    1993 Lancia Integrale Evo
    1968 Mercedes 280SL Pagoda
1963 Cadillac Convertible (Which I'd buy off eBay with whatever was left ! ;) )

1968 or 69 Dodge Charger 440 (a hemi would probably put me over budget)
    early DeTomaso Pantera
    Renault 5 Turbo 2
    Renault GTA turbo or A610
    Renault 16
    Jaguar XJR or XJ12
    Jaguar 420G
    Mercedes 450 SEL 6.9 or 300 SEL 6.3
    Citroen CX GTi turbo
    Rover SD1 Vitesse
    Rover P5B or P6 3500
    Peugeot 205 GTi
    Toyota Corolla KE30

    BMW 6 series
De Lorean DMC12(with plutonium reactors, that might put me a bit over budget).

    Maserati Ghibli in Navy.

    Although I would love a Cisitalia 202.

Limited to a budget of €100,000?

    - Ferrari Mondial convertible

    - Ferrari Dino

    - Lancia Delta Integrale

Whatever is left I'd need for insurance, running costs, etc

    1) Saab 900 Aero 16V turbo, restored, revisioned to better than new condition

    2) Opel GT A/L also with some money spent on it to make "as new"

    3) Early VW split windscreen Westfalia Camper, fully restored

    5) whatever is left of the money I'd spend on a Unimog, have some fun truck-trialing

    1. Renault 5 Turbo 2
    2. Fiat 131 Abarth
    3. Austin Healy 3000 mkII/mkIII
    4. BMW 3.0 cs
    5. 1985 Jaguar 5.3 V12 Soveriegn (to do the shopping in, you understand)

Probably busts €100000, not quite sure?
