    I have a lump (8k +) sum I want to invest for 6 months

    any suggestions on where to put it?

    as I never done any investment in my life

    i posted something similar here a few weeeks back.

    The responses youre likely to get will be...

    1. buy a car, go on holiday, enjoy life

    2. buy half bOI & half AIB shares

    3. put it on a horse.

    4. put it in some obscure savings scheme that will net you about 1% over the next 5 years, but end up losing 4 % in inflation.

    5. Property(hardly with 8k though, really!)

    Ask at your bank if they have any high yield 30 day or 60 day notice accounts. Unfortunately at the moment the interest rate isn't a whole lot better than a standard account.......

    Northern Rock are good at the moment with over 3% APR but i think thats just for savings.
